Dog (Pit Bull) that attacked police cars must attend classes

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- A pit bull mix in Tennessee has been sentenced to obedience training after his dogged attack on a local police car.

Winston didn't bite anybody, but he mauled a Chattanooga police car in what might have been a confused attempt to take a bite out of crime. The persistent pooch managed to tear off a section of the front bumper and damage the tires.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that a judge ruled that Winston had been a very bad dog. He was sentenced to obedience and canine good citizen classes, and he'll have to wear a tag that says he is "potentially dangerous."

Charges against his owner will be dismissed if the classes are completed successfully

CHATTANOOGA — What happened to a Chattanooga police officer’s car was certainly under the radar. A city police spokeswoman said Sunday that Officer Clayton Holmes had been checking traffic speeds with radar and stopped to fill out a report when he felt his car shaking. He found a bulldog chewing on the tires. After the dog attacked two passing cars and a second police car, officers used pepper spray and a Taser on it, but the animal wasn’t deterred. By the time McCamey Animal Center staffers captured that dog and two others, it had chewed two tires and the entire...

Well, Im glad everything worked out for Winston. It would have been a shame to put that dog down for what he did.

I don’t know if they keep stats on police car attacks, but they’re gonna have to start.

Well, I have to admit, I've never seen a dog rip a cop car to pieces like that... I'd say this one wasn't rare, it was one of a kind!

Scary to watch that clip, but funny as hell nonetheless...

I’m not a pit bull fan, but I’ll bet the dog does better than some people who are ordered to attend classes.

Yeah. And too bad that the two legged dogs don't have to wear a sign: "potentially dangerous."

He was sentenced to obedience and canine good citizen classes, and he'll have to wear a tag that says he is "potentially dangerous."
