Congress passed the bill without knowing what was in it. Barack Obama signed it without reading it. Now it looks as though the Associated Press reported on ObamaCare without comprehending its content. Readers will have to scroll far down to discover that the elimination of a key tax break that kept retirees on company prescription-medication plans will mean dumping millions of seniors onto Medicare and that the AP ignored it until now:
The health care overhaul will cost U.S. companies billions and make them more likely to drop prescription drug coverage for retirees because of a change in how the government subsidizes those benefits.
In the first two days after the law was signed, three major companies Deere & Co., Caterpillar Inc. and Valero Energy said they expect to take a total hit of $265 million to account for smaller tax deductions in the future.
With more than 3,500 companies now getting the tax break as an incentive to keep providing coverage, others are almost certain to announce similar cost increases in the weeks ahead as they sort out the impact of the change.
Figuring out what it will mean for retirees will take longer, but analysts said as many as 2 million could lose the prescription drug coverage provided by their former employers, leaving them to enroll in Medicares program.

wow
The hell with it. The only solution is to bankrupt the system. It’s the only way the states will turn around and the only way the Federal Government will get turned around. Right now, I have only one personal goal with regard to healthcare - take as much personal care of my health as I can so that I stay out of the system to the greatest extent possible. When everything crashes and burns, I’ll try to help restructure things by speaking out. Right now, there are a whole lot of open hands and closed ears. The debate is essentially over.
Looks like I’ll be scrubbing toilets till they put me in the grave.
When the congressional Staffers didn’t even KNOW they were being dumped into the new Government Healthfare Program is a perfect example of the stupidity that is infecting the American Society.
How can they be so dumb...
Gomer Pyle: Surprize, Suprize, Suprize!!!
I read this somewhere else yesterday. The ‘cost’ to taxpayers of giving the tax breaks to employers who provide the benefit to their retirees is about 50% of the cost of all these retired persons signing up for Part D.
I completely disagree.
The communist/socialist/liberal anonymous authors of this coup d’etat knew perfectly well what they put into the bill.
That is why they wrote exemptions for themselves.
They intended to destroy private heath insurance as a bridge to single payer or de facto single payor via a few giant goverment monopoly insurance plans.
Ping!
they also forgot to report that Obama is clearly an America, hating, commie too—both before and after the election they somehow missed this.
Ain’t this just peachy keen.......
surprise = no
But is was HISTORIC ya know.
Yes, sadly you are right.
Gosh it’s too bad we didnt learn about this BEFORE it was passed into law.
If only there were some people who would have called for a stop to this ...
They weren’t.
We were. Or enough of us were.
Meanwhile...
Who says they are stupid? I say they were deliberate...
and medicare is cutting services not waste....this should be a fine mess....just notified my dieing mother is being removed from hospice because she didnt die fast enough...but they got their 30thousand dollar bonus for singing her up for 6 months...plus the monthly ...its a racket.
Obama needed a "victory".
And that the AP ignored it until now.Wow what a suprise.
When Part D was first signed into law, I figured I would lose my drug plan sooner or later.....looks like it’s come to pass.
Well..this way, they can be sure to get everyone on to medicaid so they can control how many meds you get...declining them...thus you die sooner.
Health bill may exempt top Hill staff
Meanwhile...
I thought hospice was free?
First Black President needed a victory and the AP were complacent....
The WSJ had an interesting op-ed today about the new privilege class. They had a side by side table showing the difference now between the private sector (salaries, benefits, pensions) and the government/union sector. In every instance the govt/union sector win out! On top of that, they never leave their jobs once there. Almost all have job security no matter their work record.
can’t be!
Obama said if we liked our current plan we could keep it !
/s
... and the good news is ????
Is there any?
A way to stop this disaster would be for Doctors to call in a National Sick Day. They have more power then anyone right now. I think the Dems would get the message.
That is why they wrote exemptions for themselves.
They intended to destroy private heath insurance as a bridge to single payer or de facto single payor via a few giant goverment monopoly insurance plans.
Then what the Republicans in both houses should do is submit a bill requiring all congressmen and senators to join the health plan they have just passed.
They should call it the "Put up or shut up mandatory health bill"
Special exemption for union members, no doubt.
Some hospice services may be free. The ones I’m familiar with aren’t. They’re non-profit, but still charge a fee, though that’s often at least partially covered by Medicare and/or other insurance.

“Looks like Ill be scrubbing toilets till they put me in the grave.”
Before we are done, Obama will be cleaning toilets.
That was part of the strategy all along . . . and this is why the "health care reform" is a bi-partisan measure despite the GOP's political posturing on this.
Remember -- it was the Republican House, Senate and President who passed that Medicare Prescription Drug Plan in the first place. And the intent of that plan all along was to provide a mechanism for major U.S. corporations to dump retirees from their own insurance rolls.
My God. Look at all these Medicare cuts!
sory...paid by medicare...those services care more about profit than the dieing...nurses are great but the companies are only in it for the money.
Historic, debatable. A “big, ef*n deal” — verifiable.
Cloward-Piven.
It is a two-way street...
you are missing something ...congress stole all the money we paid in...are still stealling what we havnt paid and are not likely to quit.
LOL!
And all those government/union “workers” are tied with the SSocialist tyrany. They make new growing troops struggling to keep their confortable places...Stop that by any means or you are owned
