Can a pope resign from office? (You know Obama's fingerprints are all over this.)
BBC News ^ | 27 March 2010

The possibility has been raised that Pope Benedict XVI should resign over the snowballing paedophile priest scandal in the Catholic Church. The BBC's Vatican correspondent, David Willey, examines the question.

In theory, there is nothing to stop Pope Benedict taking a piece of paper out of his writing desk and drafting a letter of resignation to hand to the College of Cardinals, the supreme electoral body of the Catholic Church.

Obama should resign and apologize to us for his blatant Marxism.

(Yeah right.)

Considering how much the left wants to take out this Pope I am willing to bet this scandal is not as far reaching as they claim.

Funny how this also only seems to "happen" in the Catholic Church too. You never hear about it in any other faith. Wonder why.

Have you ever read/heard about the next Pope - he will be the last and an impostor - used for ‘one religion’.

"So the newspaper of Henry VIII's church starts spreading rumors that the Pope is going to resign"

It is eye-opening to think that a media outlet that is funded primarily from a government whose titular head, is also the leader of the Church of England. No conflict of interest there, eh? /s

Don’t be a fool. He needs our prayers. There are a lot of attacks coming at him, in case you haven’t been paying attention.

The Catholic religion is the one True religion, and that’s provable unless you have a closed mind.

Some “born again” you are who doesn’t care what happens to a fellow Christian, especially the leader of the Church that Jesus himself established, and his living representative on Earth.

Anybody see the timing strange of these charges the same week when a pro abortion healthcare bill went into law?

I cannot see any situation where Benedict XVI will even consider abdication.

There is NO reason why he should. I believe he's well aware of his enemies. Long live THIS Pope!

A “merger” of the two religions would be perfect from the Enemy’s point of view. All Christians have to do is give up the divinity of Jesus and we’re almost there.

More than one pope has, but then we get into arguments about the difference between de facto abdications and formal resignations. From my time with the Jesuits, I recall at least four or five who were in the category of relinquishing power willingly (though perhaps not always eagerly).

All I recall now is one of the 11th century Johns, Benedict the IXth and a later pope who abdicated whilst under the control of a foreign ruler rather than becoming a figurehead.

And so it begins. The financial meltdown, the rising new world leader, the great deception, earthquakes in various places, Jerusalem being the center point in major news, Rise of the great Satan Religion (Islam), Gog and Magog rearming, Persia (Iran) leading the world against Israel. The pieces of the puzzle are falling into place. Obama will try to make himself the world king within 2 years. All the world will bow down to him and worship him. Sadly, something will happen of such a great destruction that a 3rd of the world will perish and he will be seen as the savior of the world. Time is short

This is not about which version of Christianity is the one true anything — this is about whether anti-religious secular forces who want to destroy ALL religion except the front that use for convenience, can manipulate the leader of a worldwide religion into stepping down. Today the pope, tomorrow, the chief rabbi of somewhere and the protestant archbishop of somewhere else. Wake up.

The Kenyan muslim ghetto punkboy had better be careful about sliming anyone - much less the Holy Father - with pedophilia trash. After all, Mossad and others may be presumed to have lots of very damaging information about the long, consensual relationship between the Kenyan muslim ghetto punkboy and his mentor in pedophilia and marxist psychobabble, Frank Marshall Davis. By any rational standard, punkboy’s reckless trashing of Israel and the Vatican, all in the same week, no less, appear to be acts of desperation. But what is the source of his panic?? Someone or something is leaning on him, bigtime.

Sure. It's a biblical thing. :) That along with "health care" in the U.S., the talk about National ID cards, stronger, or at least more, devastating earthquakes, Obama's non-religion (which is really just NOT Christianity), and the mystery surrounding the guy in the White House's actual background, the economies of many nations collapsing, yeah, I'd say we're heading for a long-awaited appointment. The only factor that would stop it or slow it down, is Divine intervention. The birth pangs are getting stronger and closer together.

This is warmed-over non-news from the mid-1990’s (Pope John Paul II out-lived a boat-load of liberal critics who hated the very fact of his papacy) that has been re-hashed time and again by those who can’t stand Catholic doctrines that can NEVER be changed to accept a lack of hell, women as priestesses, baby-killing, illegitmiate “marriages” (homosexual), polygamy masquerading as marriage (civil divorce and remamrriage), and anything else that is true.

The possibility has been raised that 0bama the Nulla should resign over the snowballing disaster of his presidency - where is the article that re-hashes that?

It was a very striking phrase, and I remember wondering about it at the time...that is, wondering what he knew that we didn’t. You’re right, he is in need of our prayers.

Why in the world would you make this specious claim????

With as many REAL and true threats that we face why would you pull this accusation out of the hat? I am NO fan of the current set of thugs in the WH but I would doubt seriously that they even know the Pope’s name
