Can a pope resign from office? (You know Obama's fingerprints are all over this.)
BBC News ^ | 27 March 2010

The possibility has been raised that Pope Benedict XVI should resign over the snowballing paedophile priest scandal in the Catholic Church. The BBC's Vatican correspondent, David Willey, examines the question.

In theory, there is nothing to stop Pope Benedict taking a piece of paper out of his writing desk and drafting a letter of resignation to hand to the College of Cardinals, the supreme electoral body of the Catholic Church.

That’s your opinion and I suppose the timing is coincidental in your view, also.

This is not first set of revelations about abuse by priests. I do not claim that the RC church is any worse or better than other churches in this respect. To pretend that this has not happened is at best delusional

It has everything to do with calling to accountability those who have ruined your church.

First you defend BHO when you have no knowledge of what's going on - other than YOUR opinion. Secondly, you slipped....YOUR church.

So since it isn't YOUR church - your OPINION is WORTHLESS and VERY SUSPECT!

Newsbreak! The Church is NOT RUINED. The gates of hell shall NOT prevail against it - try as you may. You gotta KNOW/Believe Scripture, weasel!

Like Duh! Like I said - timing!

Also, today's not the first time we heard there's a commie in the WH! Something to get you wee wee'd up about. Stay out of church business - you don't represent them in any way.

“Why would the BBC fabricate such a story from whole cloth?”

Heh, heh, why wouldn’t they, given their history!

I does happen in other churches, but many of them are quick to root out those folks and have them prosecuted...especially fundamentalist and baptist churches!

The incidence of abuse of children by priests is actually lower than that of abuse of children in public schools by teachers, general sexual abuse of children in their families, etc.

The biggest problem is that during a certain period in the 1970s, large numbers of homosexuals got into the seminaries and, while they do not go after children, homosexual men are notorious for their fondness for adolescents or younger men. And that is what most of these cases have been. Of course, Protestant churches have openly gay ministers who without a doubt have been involved in things like this, simply because that’s how gay men are, but I guess that’s different: the press presents these men as heroes.

This has everything to do with Obama. The Church is his only identifiable enemy, and his forces in the media and the political world are doing everything to undermine it and destroy it. No Pope has been better than Benedict on this issue, and, in fact, I think that’s one of the other reasons they’re after him. He is hated by the gay mob and they have regular demonstrations outside the Vatican calling for his death, among other things.

You can tell a lot about a person by his enemies. The fact that Benedict is hated by the gay lobby, the Muslims, women’s organizations, the New York Times, and the Obama White House is a great thing. I bet you’re jealous because I doubt that your church can say the same!

I do recall something in the Prophesies of Malachi about the next Pope being the last one and a phony one at that.

Right on! When I read about it awhile back I thought - 'how' could that happen. Amazingly, lately I wondered 'when' will it happen and today... well, it's upon us. Not that I think the Pope will or should step down but the 'unrest' of the left showing their hand at the Papacy says alot.

Prophesy always fulfills itself and the closer it gets - what was hidden before - gets revealed little by little.

Nice to know that one is not allowed to form an opinion unless you give me permission. I’ll try to keep that in mind.....

I can’t stand BHO, but what possible evidence can you or anyone produce, to make your added (...) subheading for this article valid?????

It’s no different that the Liberal kooks always saying “it’s Bush’s fault”.

It makes your core reasons look questionable, not better.

“Can a pope resign from office?”

I’ve heard of it happening before but it’s been centuries.
