Maybe it could be a circle with an “x” in the middle.

What can I do?

Can you (legally) go about armed in your state?

With Open carry I can but concealed I need to go to school for the permit. I do know how to use the shotgun here in the house but have never fired the handgun.

If the notification you received does not have the offender’s name, call back the sheriff’s office and ask for it. You can then google it and likely find out the details of the offense from archived news articles.
And, because criminal records are also public record, you can get records of the original complaint and the trial.

Once you have a name, try the Ohio sex offender registry:
http://www.esorn.ag.state.oh.us There’s a link to recently released offenders with their expected address. So he might be in there already and you can find him without knowing his name, because you know your neighborhood.

It’s very important you find out the nature of the crime and his history. You don’t know if his preferred victim is adult or child, male or female. Until you know what to protect against, you won’t know how to best allocate your energies. .

Who owns the house or apartment? That might be an angle to try—the property owner may not be aware of the new tenant’s history and there may be an out in the lease if there were omissions or outright lies in disclosure. (I’m assuming he’s renting.)

I know what my neighborhood would do. While we were working all angles to get him out, we’d have round the clock eyes on that house. Any time he so much as opened a window, a text would go out to everyone on the list. Knowing where he is at all times is as important as keeping your kids and your wives close.

I saw that you're in Ohio.

May I recommend the Tactical Defense Institute? They'll do a good job teaching you how to use that handgun. They'll also teach you a lot about how to use the shotgun.

“What the heck does distance from a school matter? He can walk or drive there. This is idiocy to think sex offenders, which should be hanged anyway, should live so far away from schools. This is like the 1000 foot rule for guns from schools. Stupid, just stupid.”

exactly and what would have anybody thinking in today’s internet age,that “they” don’t go shopping too ?
schools’ websites,locations,students etc.all nice and tidy for the viewing.
guard your children always,that they understand and follow your rules.

Route:

* Ohio Revised Code
* » Title [29] XXIX CRIMES - PROCEDURE
* » Chapter 2950: SEXUAL PREDATORS, HABITUAL SEX OFFENDERS, SEXUALLY ORIENTED OFFENDERS
This info is at the top of the page, the section # is *

2950.034, and you’ll want to reference paragraph (B).

And now I will go finish my finals for school! (dang, really should be getting a law degree;)

Ok, good. Knowing his name is an important first step. Start googling him. Use “rape” and “convicted” in quotation marks in your search to try and pull up newspaper articles about the crimes, which may have been committed in another city or state, and to cut down on the number of hits you get of same-named, but unrelated people.

Good luck!

Is there open carry in your state. If so, put all women and children under armed escort. That might get the scabby politicians attention.

Why not Tattoo it on their forehead and then require that they paint the house and sidewalks red?

My wife is none too happy with me as I am trying to teach out 3 year old grandson to avoid any houses with rainbow flags!

Print the guy’s name, address and picture and hang it on every stop sign in the neighborhood.

“guard your children always,that they understand and follow your rules.”

By far the best advice is to not expect that the criminals will police themselves and stay away from your children. We must protect children from them, which means anyone who sexually assaults a child should be put to death as a predator.

Contact the DA’s office yourself if you don’t trust the person on the phone to follow up. Law Enforcment aren’t lawyers and frequently do NOT know the laws they are supposed to enforce.

Also they generally aren’t allowed to make policy decisions, so don’t have the power to really do anything except take the information and free up the phone line.

Don’t submit to pressure. Sex is highly overrated. Grandsons on the other hand are not.
