TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - After a second day of trying, KGUN9 News has finally obtained a response from the White House on Governor Brewer's request to send the National Guard to patrol Arizona's border. While not directly addressing the deployment question, the statement promised that the administration will continue "monitoring" the situation.

Maybe it is time for the states to regain control of DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING!!

I think that's our only real hope at this point. Otherwise FedGov will eventually gain control over every aspect of our lives. They're close to that now.

Not just the Executive Branch. Don't forget our political elite--the 545 members of Congress, of whom I would estimate at least 85% are in breach of their oath of office, and are guilty of other crimes such as violation of Constitutional mandates, the Bill of Rights and virtually every other provision of law intended to protect American citizens.

Conclusion: we now have a rogue federal government which has lost its moral and legal autrhority to govern. They are going to have to be removed from office along with the herd of regulatory agencies and other useless bureaucrats currently running amok which also believe they are immune from accountability to American citizens.

You’re right. Congress is derelict in its Constitutional duties as well. I was thinking about it in the narrow terms of who can call out the National Guard.

Oh no, I don’t think so, that is so horrible, my condolences. We have so many incidents here and in the Phoenix area, and that’s even before they reach the interior...

“I don’t know if I ever told you, but 6 years ago, a neighbor of mine in Malibu, Ca. was murdered picking up a pizza in Santa Monica on his way home from work. The illegal(with a rap sheet) murdered him, stole his watch, Mercedes, and wallet, then left his wife there to take the wrap for him.”

So sad! So senseless! It won’t be long before we’ll all have stories like that.

I think the issue is if the Governor calls the NG up then the state has to pay. Arizona is broke, so the Governor is trying to get Obama to send the NG to the border- then the Feds would have to pay the cost. That actually makes sense to me, since the border issues are supposed to be the responsibility of the Feds.

I know they are all politicians and full of BS, but this part sounds right. The governor of Arizona has been requesting the NG to the border for a while now and made a statement to a reporter that she hasn’t even received a reply to her requests. Doesn’t surprise me.

What happens if the States knock first? Does the guard ignore the Feds when they knock? Where do the States get their equipment? ;0)

I had to go offline and so missed much of the discussion. Thanks to all who added such helpful and informative comments. It’s obvious this is an issue with multiple dimensions and agendas in play. Unfortunately, at this point those various conflicting agendas preclude actually dealing with the problem. For our “leaders” that is quite... convenient...

After reading that statement.....and then rereading it....it's nonsense when the current regime in Foggy Bottom doesn't act on the governor's request for Nat'l Guard units to secure the ongoing and increasingly violent situation.

Maybe Obama has a vested interest in the drug cartels?

Maybe its time for the states to regain control of their guard troops.

I believe the governor could, herself, deploy the National Guard to the border. The Guard is under her direct command.

Probably, the real issue here is "Who pays for it?"

This was posted yesterday (sorry, poster - I couldn’t find your name)...........and it should be posted on every single thread about illegals:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgnqpMP3GYE

On one path, in one month, 700 seen (and video-taped) crossing the border. Wonder how many other paths there are - and how many prospective voters are coming here for all the freebies - and to get amnesty?

I’m sorry about your neighbor - and you are right - soon, “we’ll all have stories like that.”

The Arizona Governor has every right to send the Guard to the Border, they are state troops except when deployed overseas. She doesn’t need to kiss a** with Bozo and ask his permission. If nothing else she can form a new Arizona Ranger outfit, train them as military, arm them well and send them down to the border. I am sure she would get plenty of volunteers.

If the state has already committed to a state mission, they can tell the Fed - we’re over extended - sorry, can’t help you

You know, I would just like to point out how pointless calling out the Arizona National Guard will really be: This is their commander.

Might just as well turn over the state to Calderon. I'm sure the weakling Jan Brewer won't interfere...
