America finds itself in a precarious position.
It reminds me of a story I read as a kid many years ago; The Devil and Daniel Webster Only the 21st Century edition.
It thought it wanted to be a socialist nation. Or, at least 51% thought so.
It thought it wanted to redistribute other peoples money. 51% thought thats what they wanted.
It thought it was voting for a man that would grant their wishes and fulfill their dreams. And now that he has Something about it just doesnt feel right Many who voted for the president are left feeling like they did something wrong, many know they did something wrong and are finally admitting it.
They thought, they were changing their luck. They thought it would feel good to stick it to the rich guy. But as each and every day passes, that nagging, gnawing feeling deep in their gut is whispering to them You know what you did was wrong. You know you can make this right, before its too late. You know that this change isnt the kind of change you thought you were voting for. You know its all wrong and you know why. You still believe in this country, and its founding principles and you know they dont include stealing other peoples money.
What many of those Americans are finally waking up to is the sobering reality that you cannot sell your soul and dictate the terms of its surrender. At some point, all of those who voted for the current president will have to give the devil his due.
For many of those Americans, the devils due, isnt what they had bargained for.
Because unfortunately, many Americans simply just didnt put forth that much of an effort to honestly investigate and look into who they were really voting for.
Who can blame them; they approached voting for president with the same giddiness and adolescent naivety as thinking they are qualified to judge talent. Its the same feeling they experience when they vote for their favorite contestant on American idol They went with how they felt and only needed a few minutes of sound bites and a tingly feeling to decide.
What they didnt realize is, that when it comes to presidential politics voting for someone because they are hip, slick, and cool is selling your soul to the devil.
What a majority of those very same Americans are finally discovering is, voting for a celebrity (all fluff) over an honest, dedicated, patriotic American (substance) rarely, if ever, will live up to the hype.
Why is that?
The Americans that voted for our current president assumed that they were getting something or someone that wasnt George Bush fair enough. But was that enough? Was that a good enough reason? What did those Americans really know about the man they were voting for? In my opinion, its simple, they were voting for the promise of a free lunch They sold their souls and their country for a free lunch and little free pie (someone elses pie) and the thought of that felt good.
But what did they get, they got a president that has allowed his attorney general to investigate the CIA Did that make the country stronger Do terrorist fear us more.
The presidents very own head of homeland security called Veterans extremists Certainly that made America stronger I mean the very idea of accusing those that have fought and defended the nation certainly made this country stronger Didnt it.
The president is now pressuring the military, while still engaged in two major regional conflicts simultaneously to repeal the dont ask, dont tell policy that has served the military and those that have bravely and selflessly volunteered to serve this nation since basically the beginning.
These men and women that have devoted their lives to serving honorably and faithfully, are now being forced to bow at the altar of political correctness and are also being forced to lift the ban on homosexuals and allow them to serve openly in the military.
How is that going to strengthen the finest fighting force in the history of the world? How? Can anyone at all tell me how allowing openly gay men and women to serve going to make the military more ready, more capable, stronger, fitter, fiercer, or more feared? How, does it make the military better?
Cant they just serve if they chose to do so and be a Solider among Soldiers and be proud of the fact that they are serving Does it have to be about them, why cant it be about the greater good of the service, the nation, and the country?
I'll answer that, because to those that have sold their soul Its only about being recognized as the individual and never about sacrifice.
Again, it all boils down to, be careful what you are willing to sell your soul for. You just might get the Devil you fear.
Have Americans had enough?
Have Americans finally snapped out of the trance they were in and started to realize that there is no such thing as a free lunch In the end, YOU will always pay for what you thought you were getting for free. So, who are you Jabez Stone or Daniel Webster?
If you voted for the current president, you are probably Jabez Stone.
If you belong to a Tea Party or support the movement, you are probably Daniel Webster and you are left to fight for the souls that sold them so cheaply -- You are left to fight to preserve our nation and our way of life.
The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.
- Winston Churchill
Amen to that!
Obama was selected; not elected even though people may have voted for him. They didn’t have a choice; especially the Republicans who saw John McCain rammed down their throats when he had already left the election.
Do you seriously believe that John McCain was the candidate most people would have voted for? He was on his bus on his way home and he isn’t even a conservative and there is no such animal as a moderate.
There are way too many ifs, ands and buts about Obama.
You sound way to curious. Why?
Should not be too dificulte considering you are attached to the Internet and know how to type.
Just fill in te questions please.
Thanks
Happy Easter!
I don’t answer anyone that makes smart aleck jokes.
