How to make a Penny Can Stove
Survival Digest ^ | 4/3/10

Posted on 04/03/2010 6:19:20 PM PDT by mylife

I just thought this was neat. I made one in about 10 minutes using a different design.

I made mine about the size of a skoal can and it will burn for about 40 min. Boils 2 cups of water in about 5 min.

I dont think the RTV is necessary if you get a good interference fit.

There are quite afew lightweight and ultralightweight hiking sites now that discuss this type of item. Ray Jardine sort of pioneered the popularizing of the strategy.

I remember a fire can that I made in Girl Scouts. Take a tuna can, coil cardboard inside very tightly, and pour wax in. Allow to harden.

I hope it works for ya. the whole trick is placing a primmer plate below to get the alcohol pressurized.

I just use a soup can lid with a few drops of alcohol on it.

Light the primer pan and in a little bit the jets will light up.

It's to bad this is unwatchable with the horribly distracting music playing while the person is talking.

What was the fluffy stuff put in the can, and is that a special kind of silicone?
Sorry, family is watching Lord of the Rings full volume, I can’t hear it.
