Were sure youre hearing things like this yourself, but today at lunch our friend Sarah told us shes pregnant and that shes unable to get health insurance because her pregnancy is a pre-existing condition insurance wont cover.
She was in tears because she thought she was unable to get pregnant, and was actually on birth control, despite the fact other medical problems have kept her from having a period for seven years. Well, a miracle happened, but it unfortunately happened about a month after she was laid off her job so shes unmarried, has no insurance, and her boyfriend is a musician who doesnt have insurance of his own.
Sarah has a doctors appointment next week, and spent most of the morning fighting with the billing department there, as well as several insurance companies, trying to determine what she could do to pay for all the medical help shell need with this pregnancy.

I thought Obama said that Insurance companies now have to take everyone...not true?
There has always been free health care for those who need it. But it hasn’t been part of the Barry Care propaganda.

Federally-funded health centers care for you, even if you have no health insurance. You pay what you can afford, based on your income. Health centers provide
checkups when you’re well
treatment when you’re sick
complete care when you’re pregnant
immunizations and checkups for your children
dental care and prescription drugs for your family
mental health and substance abuse care if you need it
Health centers are in most cities and many rural areas. Type in your address and click the ‘Find Health Centers’ button to find health centers near you.
I suppose these people will realize soon this health care bill is not about insuring them; it’s about sending all our money to Obama and friends and Congress and friends slush fund to pay each other.
Gimme a break. It’s ten grand to have a kid if you have no insurance. The little snotty pregnant brat probably spends that in a year on entertainment. Split the cost two ways between her and her worthless boyfriend and they only have 5grand each to scratch together.

There is no cure for Stupid: shacked up, unmarried and knocked up! This couple must both be democRAT voters
Eh, I’m sure she’ll be covered in 2014.
“This couple must both be democRAT voters”
What an ignorant thing to write!
It's not about health care, it's about overwhelming the system and destroying it and replacing it with a two-tier socialist Utopia with a small cadre of apparatchiks at the top living like Kings and lording it over the lowly peasants.
This story illustrates EXCATLY why we need to turn 1/6 of our economy over to government bureaucrats.
I wonder why it took us so long to realize that.
Lots of people have babies without insurance. I know we did. Hospitals and clinics have payment programs that will cover all your prenatal care and the birth. A midwife will be cheaper, and can be a good alternative. They’re backed up by drs if necessary. It will be OK. It happens all the time.
Its ten grand to have a kid if you have no insurance.

And would be less than one grand if the government had not gotten involved in medicine long ago. Research what it used to cost forty years ago, I would wager that most young people won’t believe how cheap it used to be. How do they think women used to have a dozen children back when there was no such thing as maternity coverage?
So I’m sure she has her $1,000 emergency fund and six months expenses saved up. Right? After that she’s debt free, right?
Right?
If not there’s one valuable lesson she can teach her child.
She could have gotten COBRA insurance from her employer. Oh, I forgot, she wants someone else to pay for her medical care.
You mean less than the approved insurance plan she’ll have to purchase?
Give me a break...
I’m sick to death of these stories because people who can’t control themselves are still getting help by the states. What a load of bull.
We had our son 31 years ago without insurance. It was $550.00 for prenatal care and home birth delivery. We made $50.00 a month payments until the bill was paid.
There’s no question that she and her boyfriend have made some stupid and risky decisions; another stupidity is that of a hospital birth, even without complications, costing thousands of dollars.
I believe that Medicaid will cover, just call the local county health. That's why we pay so much for taxes.
