CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) -- An illegal immigrant was sentenced Monday to 60 years in prison for a crash that killed three people, including a 3-year-old boy inside a Colorado ice cream shop.
Francis Hernandez, 26, of Guatemala was sentenced for the deaths of Marten Kudlis, Deborah Serecky and Patricia Guntharp.

This case has spawned a lawsuit by the little boy’s family against government officials who would not protect the public against the criminality of this illegal alien. Ritter, Hickenlooper, and the rest of the illegal alien supporters are targets of the lawsuit.
Best would be if he got 20 years for each death with the sentences to run consecutively with no parole. That way he'd serve the full 60.
I do hope that is what he got and the 60 years reported is typical sloppy AP reporting.
Law enforcement in this community had an obligation to protect the citizenry from this repeat offender.

It would be cheaper to hang this criminal murderers. How much will it cost the taxpayers to house this guy for 60 years in all the comforts of a modern, politically correct jail?
Sixty years is pitiful. Let’s hope that the ‘Just Us’ mentality in prison will mete out Jeffrey Dalmer justice.

Immigration Officials Identify Guatemalan Driver in Minnesota school-bus Crash That Killed 4 Kids

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Immigration agents say they've learned the true identity of a van driver charged in a Minnesota bus crash that killed four children. Twenty-4-year-old Olga Marina Franco of Guatemala is accused of running a stop sign and hitting the school bus. Investigators say she gave them a fake name after last week's crash and told them she was from Mexico. Franco is charged with four counts of criminal vehicular homicide and lesser crimes. Authorities say she claims she stopped at the sign and the bus hit her. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers say they believe Franco is an illegal immigrant.

REFERENCE At a summit held last May, the Guatemalan AG for Human Rights said that 10% of Guatemala's population has relocated to the U S. About 60% currently in the US do not possess legal immigration documents.
A 2005 study by the Intl Organization for Migration, says the Guatemalan population here numbers 1,364,000 persons. The study found that the vast majority of Guatemalan immigrants in the US send money back home, to the tune of $3.6 billion last year, alone.
Guatemalan immigrants in the US sent $3.6 Billion back home last year alone. Social Security provides outrageous financial aid to Guatemalans who have been coached by their government to "seek asylum." These people never paid a dime into the SS system; yet they collect seven years straight, and get extended payments w/ political connections. Checks can amount to $1000 a month, and more.
The Guatemala govt is scared stiff they won't get all the money Guatemalan immigrants are draining from the US Treasury. Thousands of Guatemalans came here on ‘temporary status’ as an excuse after some ‘natural disaster’.......and never go home.

A man found guilty of murder, but his efforts to avoid prosecution for past crimes are so complex, he almost can’t be identified. That really makes my blood boil. Such a criminal should be put to the wall and done away with.

It puzzles me sore how the math can add up that way. Do fifty Guatemalans live in a single house in order to be able to divert most of a Social Security check back home?

On Monday, Guatemalan national Francis Hernandez, 26, was sentenced to 60 years in prison for the 2008 deaths of Marten Kudlis, Deborah Serecky and Patricia Guntharp, after a jury convicted him of vehicular homicide, as well as other charges.
At one point during the proceeding, Marten’s father, Murat Kudlis, addressed the court, saying: “We miss (Marten) very much. My wife is pregnant with a little girl and she will never know her big brother.”
On September 10, 2008, the parents of 3-year-old Marten Kudlis buried their son at Fairmount Cemetery, after he was killed while waiting for his ice cream in a Denver-area Baskin and Robbins.
An SUV speeding through the intersection of Havana and Mississippi, with Francis Hernandez at the wheel, slammed into a pickup truck, which was then pushed into the ice cream shop´s window. The toddler was sitting at a table in front of that window, and was sent flying as the truck came crashing through it.
After the crash, Hernandez jumped from his Chevy Suburban and fled the scene. He was later apprehended without incident. Police said he was driving at twice the posted speed limit.
Marten was taken to the hospital, but died a short time later due to massive internal injuries.
The two women in the pickup truck struck by Hernandez were Patricia Guntharp, 49, and Debra Serecky, 51. Both pronounced dead at the scene.
KMGH of Denver covered the child´s funeral and reported that the first song heard during the service was Eric Clapton´s “Tears in Heaven.”
In a heart wrenching display of grief and anger, Marten´s mother Marat Kudlis shouted: “That bastard!” referring to the illegal alien who killed her son. Between the tears, Marten´s father cried out: “I really loved him.”
The rabbi conducting the service told the heartbroken family and friends: “This burden feels like more than we can bear because it is so sudden. It´s a parent´s worst nightmare. It does not seem fair and it is not fair to lose someone so young.”
A teddy bear was placed in the tiny open casket which held Marten´s body.
Following the funeral, many of the mourners returned to the crash site, which became a makeshift memorial, filled with flowers, stuffed animals, and cards with expressions of sympathy and support for the Kudlis family.
One of those mourners, Duane Stokes, told a KMGH reporter: “I helped pull Marten out of the building. I was right there with him. He squeezed my hand. I held his hand until he passed on. My fiance and I were just saying a prayer to Marten and just getting one last glimpse of everything around here. Just to say goodbye to him.”
Marten´s death hit the community hard and his funeral was attended by many people who never met him, but have been saddened and angered by his senseless death.
Hernandez who has no less than 12 aliases and two dates of birth, has been arrested 19 times since 2003. The Colorado Bureau of Investigation also confirmed that Hernandez had been arrested by nine different police departments. Despite his lengthy arrest record and illegal status in this country, Hernandez has never been deported nor have deportation proceedings ever been started against him.
The police report shows that Hernandez ran from the scene and phoned his girlfriend, Brenda Aleman, asking her to come pick him up at a local Hooter´s restaurant.
