High ranking officials are gathering in Russias Smolensk region following the tragic crash of the plane carrying Polish President Lech Kaczynski and many of the Polish political elite, with no passengers surviving.
Following the crash, Russias Emergencies Ministry opened a crisis hot line for relatives of the victims. English speaking emergency specialists can be reached at +7 (495) 626 37 07. The Smolensk region has set up a separate hot line: +7 (800) 100 19 01.
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has arrived in Smolensk to personally supervise the investigation.
According to Polish media reports, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the Presidents twin brother, chairman of the Law and Justice party Jaroslaw Kaczynski, are also on their way to Smolensk.
Russias Emergencies Minister Sergey Shoigu reported to Putin that all bodies have been recovered.
"Their transfer to Moscow has started with the full support and assistance from the local authorities," Shoigu said, adding, "Everything is already arranged in Moscow for forensic studies, for accommodating the relatives of the dead and also people who will be accompanying the delegation.
There, fixed it.
The fix is in!
This really sucks. I really like Poland.
Poor pilots are about to be blamed for everything that happened.
Why am I imagining that they weren’t??
Geeze!!! What a tragedy.
The newsers are greedily accepting, reporting and pushing this was an accident. Very hasty conclusion considering the make and make up of the plane, the great responsibility of the Pilot and in advanced of any real investigation. Seems rather convenient.
The President of Poland and many cabinet members including the Chief of the Airforce, the Chief of the Army Staff, Commander of the Polish Navy, President of the National Bank, Head of the National Security Bureau, Secretary of State in the Office
What a target rich list.
The National leadership wiped out?
The Pilot carrying such important people arrogantly risked his life and those of the most important people of Poland by attempting to land even though Ground Control told them the airport is closed to traffic due to fog and directed them to Moscow or another city?
What pilot would do that and do so with the very important people on board. His and their safety is paramount.
The president, his wife and entourage were en-route to a memorial service for the victims of the Katyn massacre which, in 1940, saw thousands of Polish prisoners of war murdered (primarily military officers), intellectuals, policemen, and other public servants by the Soviet NKVD
That would not be embarrassing to Russia. No not all.
A former Soviet Pilot state commemorating the deaths of 20,000 of their own people at the hand of the Russians? Why not have a keg a party as well.
Poland watched in horror as the Russians, once again invaded another Soviet Pilot State, Georgia and desperately sought a missile defense system and membership in NATO for protection.
Russia and Obama fixed that little problem by having the missile defense scrapped to appease Russian demands that they not be deployed. Wonder why?

The plane was refurbished and repaired last year, according to the general director of the company that performed the service. Alexei Gusev, the general director of Aviakor Factory, told CNN that the plane received major refurbishing and repair in December 2009.
Poland should demand the bodies be flown back to Poland or at least have THEIR forensic experts there..perhaps some from the US and europe.
lame cherry, the interesting blogger has a take on this.

if you’ve never read lame cherry before, he has opinions, strong opinions, sometimes vulgar, sometimes spot on.
EXACTAMENTO! I just wonder if there is any residual or other evidence after the fire that would prove it was a Russian missile that took them down?
I recommend they don’t fly in Russian planes.
Unless it’s Putin.
“Everything is already arranged in Moscow for forensic studies”
The same forensic guys who studied Katyn Forest so well ????????????????
I feel better already /sarc
>>EXACTAMENTO! I just wonder if there is any residual or other evidence after the fire that would prove it was a Russian missile that took them down?<<
A little early for Trvther-style conspiracies if you ask me...
The press reports seem to be taking down Polish President Lech Kaczynski for being too nationalist, conservative, anti-communist pro US and anti Russian...
Conversely their talking up Prime Minister Donald Tusk (who Kaczynski beat for Polish President) for being being far more "moderate" and pro Russian on accepting of communist
Just the fact that world press report are already putting a bit of propaganda like spin give me a creepy feeling...
So do we need to read the world press like US press now as a propaganda organ of certain powers?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100410/ap_on_re_eu/eu_poland_obit_kaczynski
This is it, their moving...Not Russian, but the whole one world government thing ...
With Obama in control of the US and on board as a player... now is the time move to removed loose threads....
Watch for accidents and other "issues" in all that is left of the old pro west, pro US, pro freedom players in the world
Put shows up...with an entourage of untold numbers, intel, and keys to the national fortune, no doubt.
And, Sor0bama left early for ‘a soccer game’ without the press corpse this morning. Riiiggghhhhtt.
