I'll be more than happy to go to prison to fight for my freedom ( obamacare )
Tom Ashbrook - On Point Radio ^ | March 22nd | random caller

Posted on 04/11/2010 2:55:28 PM PDT by Halfmanhalfamazing

Caller: I'm very frustrated about what happened they didn't listen to the people at all.

I don't know if you happened to hear what Michelle Bachmann said about peacefully not complying with obamacare? I think that's going to be me.

I have read the bill and I know about the provisions that will throw me in prison and really I don't care. I'll be more than happy to go to prison to fight for my freedom.

Host: How do you see your freedom on the line here?

Caller: They are taking our money by fiat. They are taking our money and giving it to somebody else. I cannot pay my bills and I cannot feed myself and the people I need to take care of if it's taken from me by force.

Host: Do you mean in the mandate that everybody have health insurance?

Caller: Yes, that's the primary aspect of it as it sits right now, but that's not all the only aspect. This bill has hundreds of tax increases in it and it creates hundreds of new bureaucracies. It spends money that we don't frankly have and it's a threat to me and my family.

Host: Do you think you would have thought the same way about social security if you were on the whitehouse lawn in 1935?

Caller: I think I would have and given where social security is now with the.... what's the debt of social security? Isn't it like 25 trillion now? The people that said the things that they said about social security given the huge debt that it's in were correct. I saw a piece in USA Today about the combined debt of social security and medicare together is 60 trillion dollars.

I'll be more than happy to go to prison to fight for my freedom.

That's a commendable statement but this isn't 1776 anymore. Too many people got jobs, mortgage payments, car payments, kids to shuttle back and forth between hockey, soccer, baseball, cheerleading...etc.........

Despite all the bravado rhetoric, it's unlikely anyone will rush to his rescue.......

WOW!

So if this country hasn't a chance and we should all just run and hide, but we can't because the gubermint knows all, then what the HELL are you doing here?! Why not just run off to Brazil or New Zealand?

Honestly, you sound like a communist plant.

Give up or die.

Either way, you are dead. If you give up you are still dead, it just takes a bit longer.

You can give up if you like.

I still believe in the principals of freedom. Whatever that is worth.

Because I'm from Texas. Where am I going to go? The Mexican food everywhere else sucks, and don't get me started on barbeque.

Honestly, you sound like a communist plant.

As a Catholic, I am not permitted to believe in communism, which is a materialist philosophy. I am, however, a plant -- specifically, a rosemary bush.

Give up or die. Either way, you are dead. If you give up you are still dead, it just takes a bit longer.

Wasn't it Keynes who said "In the long run, we're all dead"? In any case, it's what you do when you're alive that counts.

You can give up if you like.

Give up what? I haven't given up anything. I have a wonderful, happy life. Jesus is still Jesus no matter how high they raise taxes or which party runs the bureaucracy.

I still believe in the principals of freedom. Whatever that is worth.

That sort of freedom is an illusion. True freedom has nothing to do with politics or government. True freedom is doing your duty to God and your neighbor and letting everything else take care of itself.

It's spelled "principles", by the way.

“....Besides, jail just takes producers out of the earning loop. Why bother with that when they can just make a direct withdraw?”

Hmmm...another interesting constitutional question. If we are “required” to give them back account information, doesn’t that infer that we are “required” to have an account at a private bank?
I’ll shut my accounts down and go all cash before they get any account info!

Keyboard kommandos? Did you not hear the audio?

Look, I don’t know if it’s really genuine or not but it certainly sounds authentic. And there was another caller who talked about the jail time. People know this is out there and there will indeed be fighting back in many ways.

Should we all act as if these things aren’t being said? “hush hush, don’t talk about it”

Let’s assume you are correct and say that this is someone playing army man. They did so on NPR, not on FR.

At least get that part right.

—————By allowing them to live in such a fantasy world, we increase the chances of one of them actually doing something stupid, and ending up like those poor bastards in Waco did.—————

This is a damn good point. And if anything, you made it in the right thread.

———————there are a lot of morons on FR who actually think that they are somehow going to make a romantic one-man stand against the Federal government, and that their sacrifice will lead to some kind of bullshit Hollywood happy ending.—————————

Yeah, a happy hollywood ending isn’t going to happen but as I stated above, if people really did start doing this(even if only a handful) it could easily lead to a repeal of obamacare. Let there be victims of obamacare above/beyond economics and let it become a big nationwide story. The american people simply wouldn’t stand for it and you’d have 1994’s again and again and again.

There are millions of americans who know how to leverage talk radio and the internet to their advantage. This isn’t something the liberal media could keep a lid on.(should it actually start happening)

-————Folks, the federal government will RUIN YOUR LIFE if you give them an excuse.-—————

With the passage of obamacare, some people realize that the ruin has already been signed into law. Now it’s just a matter of time.

I happen to think the american people will pull a miracle and get it repealed ala Dan Rostenkowski but I’m confident it will take on a different form. The sad thing is that a few people may have themselves put in jail as the only catalyst we’ve got to reach a full repeal.

Wow. It's refreshing to read something written by an intelligent person every now and them. FRiend, you are thinking about the problem instead of reacting to it, and that's the way to succeed. Taking your personal finances to a strictly cash basis hurts the bad guys way more than any idiot in a camo hat with a gun ever could.

The problem is at the employer/employee interface. No legitimate business pays its workers in cash any more. How do you propose to convert your paycheck to cash without going to a bank? (Please don't say you're thinking of going to one of those mojado check-cashing joints.)

And if you have debts (e.g. car or mortgage payment), forget it; you are married to the lender until Payoff Day. I don't recommend paying cash for major purchases; buying a car or house with a suitcase full of $100 bills is the fastest way to get the attention of the Law that I can think of, short of blowing up Dunkin Donuts. Even if you do choose to pay in full at the time of sale, you'll still have to do so with a bank draft or cashier's check -- and that means a bank.

If enough people pulled out of the banking system, Uncle Sam and the Megacorporations would be in deep crap. At that point, however, they'd just pass a law making cash illegal. Still, it's a good idea for the moment. Kudos.

The sad thing is that it’s gotten to this point that we are looking at it this way.
**********

Several extreme scenarios have been discussed lately by good Americans: secession, CW II, civil disobedience...

And yep, who woulda thunk it. The world was just planning to turn 2000 A.D., and wondering if a Y2K virus would infect us.

Now, there is talk of civilian armies, record gun sales, Marxist coup d’etats, it’s crazy.

yes, the world’s gone a little crazy.

-——————That’s a commendable statement but this isn’t 1776 anymore. Too many people got jobs, mortgage payments, car payments, kids to shuttle back and forth between hockey, soccer, baseball, cheerleading...etc.........——————

Well, it’s not my cup of tea...... I’ll be honest. My family is in consolidation mode currently.

Asians and mexicans are sometimes known for having 13 or so people living in just one 3 or so bedroom house, pretty soon if government gets any more expensive we’ll all be living that way.

But! While you say “too many of us have....” you should consider those who don’t.

Consider those who don’t have any of that, or may even have some of that and feel that if they put themselves up on the chopping block they are sparing another member of the family. Whether you believe that or not. It’s inherent that we all want to pass down an america that is better than the one we have now and an america where the government bosses you around, takes your paycheck, and throws you in jail for not bowing to the king is certainly not what we want to give our kids.

I suspect the passion in this man’s voice is more of fear than anything else, fear of being pushed into a corner and not having anywhere else to go.

I’m just thankful that enough americans have enough honor to not go around blowing $#yt up ala McVeigh. Let someone go to jail for peaceful disobedience, at least that is respectable. Misguided but respectable.

-——————————Despite all the bravado rhetoric, it’s unlikely anyone will rush to his rescue.......-——————

At the risk of getting a name wrong or forgetting someone I can think of quite a few.

How about Limbaugh, or Beck, or Levin, or Hume, or Huckabee, or anybody else with a powerful microphone and a love of country as well as a properly placed fear of big government.

America doesn’t have a liberal media monopoly anymore, so if the information can get out there, there *will* be someone coming to the rescue. First the microphone(or camera if it makes tv) then millions of americans.

No american would stand for this. Throwing people in prison for peaceful disobedience. Even some of your hardest of hard core progressives would see the light.(if only seemingly, let’s be honest, the true progressive base is a lot smaller than those who claim to be progressive)

Hang in there, things have been worse.

These are the times that try men’s souls.

We’ll make it through and I think we’ll win. We do after all have the people on our side.

Only someone who has never experienced Uncle Sam’s nasty side could fantasize about being a “freedum fahter”. Having been on the receiving end of just a tiny fraction of the hurt that Uncle can put on you, it’s my duty to call “enough” when faced with such adolescent nonsense.

You could give us a hint of what it was.

Jim Robinson, how long are you going to allow these Keyboard Kommandos to use FR as place to play Army Man?

How long was Samuel Adams allowed to use Committees of Correspondence to play Sons of Liberty Man??

America's independence was not won by pouring yourself a nice big cup of STFU and taking it.

>>”Two weeks later you’ll be in an orange jumpsuit standing in front of a federal judge crying your eyes out and begging them to let you pay their tax.”<<

B-Chan, It is clear that you could not have served under Col. David Crockett who said in his diary that “his men had an appetite for anything, but oppression”. Remember the Alamo?

There are MANY of us here that will choose NOT to walk into the gas chambers of obamacare and we are not playing “Army-Man” as you indicated in your plea (below) to JR:

“Jim Robinson, how long are you going to allow these Keyboard Kommandos to use FR as place to play Army Man?”

We will not bow to Socialism. There are some things worth dying for and freedom is at the top of that list.

There are more than a few of us Real Army that just don’t believe that this government can make ALL of our lives a living hell.

We also believe that a LOT, (if not the majority) of those who would be given the command to use their 30mm’s .. wont.

We have a radical, marxist, narcissist in office and more and more people are waking up to that.

Don’t kid yourself .. There ‘ARE’ Real Life commando’s out here and we aren’t just talking ‘keyboard’ commando’s either!

And yes .. I have been on the receiving end of our and other nasty governments.

What about income? How will we survive if we depend on our retirement, SS, and investment checks?

I think the government counts on how they control us.
