It is time for Mr. Steele to go.

You are right about current day Newt, but the press mercilessly beat him up with lies and half truths, when he was speaker, he never recovered. That is what I meant.
But Newt was forced to stand alone, since there was little we could do to break through the media wall. But I am afraid Newt is gone for good, after his speakership died. As a Conservative policy wonk, Newt excelled.
One of the big lies told about the 1994 elections was the contract did something. It did not. If it did, then why was BJ Clinton quoted in the media as having said the AW ban cost him 60 House seats? I was there, I worked the trenches, made the ads, it was all guns all the time that did the trick in 1994. The contract came late, and was focused on after the election as a governing document. No one hardly knew what the Contract with America was until the elections were over. It was then that it severed as a governing document.
One fear I have is the contract, like with a tea party leader, would become nothing more than a leftist flack target. It’s reverence for America, and Constitutional principles which unites the tea party people, why do we need anything else?
It’s grass roots passion that wins elections, a contract that mirrors the current level and issues may help, but it was passion that won in Massachusetts, and that same passion will win in November.

He was tough SOB and did what he had to do. And, yes, he was left hanging since Conservatives and the GOP didn’t realize what a leftist attack dog the MSM had become, with no counterbalance.

From your KB to God’s monitor.
>>after Ben donated to his good friend, Stuart Smiley, I stopped listening to his political advice.<<
Don’t you know? If you slam Ben Stein, you are a pariah and an Enemy Against Conservatism.
You should learn the New Party Line and Hew to It Religiously.
Right Hildy?
Tell ‘em — tell ‘em all, Hildy!
Stein donated to Freakin didn’t he?.....why should we hang on his word.....
Let all the distraction go ...

Actually, I was a big Ben Stein fan till he gave to Stuart Smalley. Friendship is no damned excuse. My own son talked about running for Congress as a Dem a while ago and I made it perfectly clear there was no way in hell I’d have donated.
“Just wondering - who would be a good replacement if Steele did quit?”
Rev. Manning!
I agree. I was shocked when he supported Franken. So much for thinking that he was smart enough to know better.
Never support or vote for a Dumocrat....no matter what, and even if it is at the lowest local level..... even if it’s your parent, child, spouse, or friend. The party as a whole is a disgrace, and if anyone claims to be a Democrat, they might as well print the word STUPID on their forehead....because that is what they are. BIG TIME!
He’s devoid of spine, guts, and gonads and should have been gone months ago.
Can you say that the Republicans have a Democratic leader - I would think so. Even if he is not actually a Democrat, he is so close to them that there is not much difference. I really don’t know what the Republicans were thinking - well actually I do, they though that as in the past, big government was a winner and they elected their best representative.
Unfortunately things changed for them and now they are left out high and dry. Well, they can still be the “Progressive Republicans” at their peril. America has changed and will NOT vote for them. Conservationism is back in vogue and will win.
Shut up, Ben Stein.
What a gasbag.
The “contract” was pretty effective, but a big problem was that, as they enacted it, Clinton claimed credit for it and the GOP let him get away with it.
To this day, he claims credit for enacting provisions of the “contract” as being his legacy.
Sam will still give his money to people he wants to support and win for office, if they are truly fiscally conservative...this is not the time to change anything...this is the time to stay firm and keep pushing, and breaking away, bit, by bit at the Dems...they are weakening and they will soon start eating their own!!!!
IF WE DO NOT FLINCH!
I thought it was common knowledge that he gave money and an endorsement to Al "Gosh darn it - People Like Me! " Franken. He has advocated increasing taxation on the wealthy. Ben Stein has often spoken of his anti-gun views. That is not a Conservative!
He is a liberal Northeast Rockefeller Republican, what we now call a RINO.
ping
Could be the party was duped because so much want to believe
Ditto!
Franken? Stein? Together?
We can’t afford to keep these RINO’s in power who are hellbent on watering down Conservatism and pushing Obama’s agenda.
