Several California Republican political candidates, including Senate hopeful Carly Fiorina and Chuck DeVore, were scheduled to share the stage this week with one of the leaders of the "birther" movement that claims President Obama was not born in this country and is thus ineligible for his elected office.
Orly Taitz, an Orange County attorney who has gone to court many times to try to disqualify Obama, was invited to speak Thursday at a Tax Day Tea Party rally in Pleasanton, Calif., that is expected to draw thousands of people. Late Tuesday, organizers said that they had rescinded Taitz's invitation after questions were raised about her presence by candidates who had been contacted by The Times.
Bridget Melson, founder and president of the Pleasanton Tea Party, said the organization had been "getting calls from candidates like crazy."
"It's not worth it," she said. "She's too controversial. This is not what the tea party is about at this point."
Taitz's lawsuits have been thrown out and lambasted by judges and she has been fined $20,000 for filing frivolous lawsuits. But Taitz, who is now running for secretary of state, was nonetheless invited to speak at Thursday's event, which is expected to be among the largest Tax Day events in the state.
Taitz's invitation -- and uninvitation -- are examples of the complications facing Republicans this year as they try to capture the enthusiasm of the tea party movement without getting sucked into its conspiracy-tinged fringes.
In a phone interview Tuesday before her invitation was pulled, Taitz dismissed the dust-up over her planned appearance.
"Look, the truth is the truth," she said. "It is important for the public to know. Just like it took some time but Watergate was investigated and there was resolution. By the same token, Obama needs to be investigated."

LA Times - focusing on the irrelevant details again!
LA Times, Genesis version: “Carpentry experts today criticized the methods and materials used to build Noah’s Ark.”
We can beat the dems without this.
For real. This was posted yesterday. It wouldn’t surprise me if the LA Times ran this lame a$$ story again today to agitprop TEA Partiers.
Maybe the trashing of the movement by the MSM has made it too sensitive about its image? I’m just suggesting...
This makes sense to me. It’s important to focus the TEA (Taxed Enough Already) party and it’s more familiar “Tea Party” nomenclature isn’t corrupted by other things.
By keeping Tea Parties focused on the insane spending of government, the movements of government against the wishes of their constituents, and the sometimes unlawful requirements of Government (such as healthcare) the Tea party hopes to maintain it’s smooth fit and finish.
When it’s muddied up with all the rest of our Conservative complaints - it will be ridiculed and disbanded. Let Orly speak at a convention of those looking for Obozo’s Birth Certificate. This “Out of Scope” behavior is exactly what happened to MADD when it shifted from drunk driving education to political anti-right modus operandi.
Surprising that the LA Times would mention the TEA movement separation from the BC concern.
Could have expected them to use the Taitz connection to bait and bitch.
The Tea Parties are exclusively about out of control spending and the taxing that follows.
I see no problem with Orly being booted.
Looks like some demorats infiltrated the California group, as always, Left Coast needs scrutiny.
Of course the Kool aid out there in La La Land allows for censorhip to pass you right bye.
“It's not worth it,” she said. “She's too controversial. This is not what the tea party is about at this point.”
Either we follow the US Constitution perfectly or we burn it.
I am a Tea Party Patriot and I am against EVERYTHING Anti American and that includes a dumb a.. resident that WILL NOT produce his BC.
I don't care if he is or isn't. Both are of no concern considering ‘he’ refuses to SHOW IT. It's a disgrace for any Tea-bagger to sweep this under the rug
Here is an alert from California Tea Party in Redlands,
This will answer the problem here.

I think this is the real reason...and not the Liberal RINO spin some have posted on here....the Obama Enablers
The TEA Party will lose credibility among conservatives who want to know the truth about Obama’s birth and legality in holding office. Dis-inviting Taitz at the request of a Liberal RINO (Fiorina) and a faux-con (DeVore) tells me that maybe the TEA Party is not interested in real conservatives
Too many of the TEA groups are linked to that Dick Armey group....Dick Armey is nothing but an Illegal Alien supporting Anti-American....who attacks people in support of securing America’s borders. Armey stinks up the TEA Party movement more than Orly Taitz ever could
“”She’s too controversial. This is not what the tea party is about at this point.””
#1 We’re going to have to be controversial, as was Ronald Reagan every day.
#2 Let the Tea Party decide what the Tea Party is about, O.K.? That’s how it formed in the first place. Don’t inflict your personality on it. That’s how Obama operates.
How would you feel about them showing up and pushing their "9/11 inside job" agenda at a "Taxed Enough Already Party" rally?

It certainly was on the hearts and minds of just about everyone I spoke with (~20 people & broad smiles at the message I penned on my palm: HAVE BIRTH CERTIFICATE WILL TRAVEL.) at the Morristown, NJ, Tea Party which drew about 1000 people today. Several of the speakers mentioned it too.
ML/NJ
Perhaps the term “This is not wha tthe TEA Party is about” would have been said: “This is not what this meeting is about”
