Next time, read the bill
NY Post ^ | April 16, 2010 | Editorial

Some members of Congress are so mys tified by the ObamaCare bill they just passed that they had to ask their own research service whether the new law applies to them, too.

And guess what? The Congressional Research Service couldn't figure it out either. The agency wrote an 8,100-word memo explaining that it could not "definitively resolve" whether lawmakers and staffers can retain their current coverage.

That's because the provision affecting those on Capitol Hill is "unclear" and filled with "ambiguities."

Anyone surprised?

After all, the final bill was 2,700 pages long. It's doubtful that a single member actually read the whole thing.

I love the part where they are “concerned” for their own well being.

OMG. Can we still get “actual health care??”

Bite my ass you no load a holes. You manage to steal from hard working Americans and then worry about your well being.

Silly, naive me to have believed that congressional staffs read and presented summaries and recommendations on the bills on which their bosses vote, even if the elected officials themselves didn’t read them. This so-called “health care bill” and the so-called “stimulus” bill” prove otherwise.

Unless there were guns to their heads and those of their firstborn, congressman with an ounce of integrity would have said, “We refuse to allow a call for a vote on this country-changing bill or any aspec of it until we have had at least month to review it.”

What a rapacious, self-serving pack Congress has proven itself. Even the Congressal Demoncrats surely see Obama for what he is. They could work together to stop him from his course of destroying the country.

This bill is going to destroy private insurance and socialize all medical care. It will cost 700,000 jobs in the insurance industry and lead to shortages and rationing. Unless the Democrats are totally defeated in November. This train is coming fast. Obvama is well along on his mission to destroy America and Capitalism.

Bad enough the members wont read stuff, but it’s pretty awful when their high paid staffers wont even read it either. I guess the good news is the pro staffers will support a repeal and replace movement now !

I sure hope Capitol Hill likes the manure (adults may insert the synonym that starts with cr and ends in p) cake they shoved down the throat of everyone else being shoved down theirs.

If you go to this link:

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billsearch.xpd?q=111+congress

and select the congressional term (in the pulldown) and also type that into “Search For:”, then look below the line and it tells the total number of bills for that congressional term.

Eight previous sessions of Congress, going all the way back to 1993, averaged about 1853 bills per session. The 111th Congress’ session isn’t even finished yet and they’ve got 8970 bills!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1993 - 1994: 103rd Congress = 1977 Bills

1995 - 1996: 104th Congress = 1817 Bills

1997 - 1998: 105th Congress = 1966 Bills

1999 - 2000: 106th Congress = 2229 Bills

2001 - 2002: 107th Congress = 1513 Bills

2003 - 2004: 108th Congress = 1659 Bills

2005 - 2006: 109th Congress = 1746 Bills

2007 - 2008: 110th Congress = 1922 Bills

2009 - 2010: 111th Congress = 8970 Bills

If this isn’t an eye-opener that they’re “transforming” our nation for the worst, I don’t know what is!!!!!

They have been making law after law after law 24/7 for 50 years. It is insane. We need a con-con to eliminate all this crap.

While that's scary the real nightmare is in how many bills become public law.

For previous Congresses...Public and Private Laws: Search
(choose the Congress you want >Submit, then choose the "110_cong_public_laws' text" link for the 110th, etc. - 460 total public/private laws)
Public and Private Laws: Main Page
For this Congress...so far...
Authenticated Public and Private Laws: Browse 111th Congress
147 as of Mar. 18, 2010

The Health Care Bill was P.L. (Public Law) 111-148 and hasn't been entered on the gpo site yet.

And you have to wonder if anyone read H.R.4872 Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 which became P.L. 111-152.
Like SEC. 1002. about INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY

SEC. 1005. IMPLEMENTATION FUNDING. (b) Funding- There is appropriated to the Fund, out of any funds in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, $1,000,000,000 for Federal administrative expenses to carry out such Act (and the amendments made by such Acts).

Well isn't that special.
