Up to 75% of British births to be outside marriage (The end of Britain: It has come to this)

THREE-QUARTERS of children in some parts of Britain will be born to unmarried mothers within the next parliament, official figures indicate.

The number of births to single mothers and unmarried cohabiting couples is set to exceed 50% across the country in the next five years.

However, data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) suggest that births outside of wedlock in some areas are already the norm and continue to rise.

Knowsley, Merseyside, one of Britain’s most deprived areas, has the highest proportion of children born to unmarried mothers, with the figure on course to hit 75% by 2014.

Critics believe the trend is further evidence of a deterioration in family values under Labour. It will present David Cameron with a pressing social problem if the Tories — who have pledged tax breaks to less well-off married couples — win power at the general election.

“It’s tremendously worrying,” said Ann Widdecombe, a former Home Office minister. “I think marriage has become devalued, as people don’t respect their wedding vows and therefore others don’t see the point of it.

“Children do much better at growing up against the background of two parents who are married and stably so.”

When new Labour came to power in 1997 the proportion of births outside wedlock was 36.7%. That had risen sharply to 45% by 2008, the latest year for which data are available — an annual rise of almost one point.

Some 30% of children were born to unmarried cohabiting couples, while up to 15% were born to single mothers.

The region with the highest proportion of births outside of marriage is the northeast (57%), closely followed by Wales (56%) and the northwest (52%).

By contrast, London has the lowest proportion of children born to unmarried mothers — 36% in 2008.

It is quickening. It is feeding on itself. Cultural rot is feeding off cultural rot.

So had the U.K. (a most of the several states here in the U.S. have) undone the wisdom shown in common law of regarding long enough cohabitations as legally equivalent to marriage?

As Christians we ought well object on spiritual grounds to failing to solemnize marriages before God, but if the law stablizes cohabitations by treating them as marriages, much of the social harm is undone.

Marriage is detrimental to qualifying for welfare. Welfare is the single biggest reason, followed by low morals, no values and no ethic for work.

The extent of the nihilistic rot will make the U.K. (and Europe in general) easy pickings for the jihadis.

Because sooner or later they will notice the vacuum and Islam will be there.

Does make you wonder though if the birth rate among first, second, and Nth gen muzzies is so high, then how can 75% of British births be outside of marriage? What does Islam say about single moms and sex outside of marriage, or does it matter?

Its a natal emergence.

I read that the only maternity hospital available under the British healthcare system is situated alittle east of the town of Marrriage in South Wales.

And after Labour completely, totally, and unquestionably fails, there's the Liberals, the Greens, and even wackier left-wing groups waiting in the wings to lead the country towards that brighter utopia.

Who needs a husband when the State provides? Who needs a wife when there are plenty of promiscuous women?

But who needs a set of parents? -- the children.

Islam is very strict regarding sex outside marriage (AKA fornication or adultery ). But I hasten to add that Muslims today comprise less than 3% of Britain's population ( about 1.6 Million out of 60 Million based on the the most recent census ).

This is Not enough to make a dent on the widespread native Anglo-Saxon out of wedlock birth. At least not yet.

That is a heck of a lot of birthing going on in a innadequately sized building! Must be a fairly nasty place!

It’s beginning to sound like places like the UK are increasingly being populated by adult children.

It’s 75% in some parts. Those parts would be where there are native Britons. Where there are more Muslims, the out of wedlock birthrate is lower.

Ya, Britain is pretty much finished.

It is even worse when you consider how bad things are, and then consider that 2/3rds of the country still support center left or far left political party’s. I believe the conservatives currently only have the support of about 33% of the voters, with labor and the liberal democrats mostly getting the other 66%. I’d guess by election day the Tories and right of center party’s get maybe 45% of the vote, but that is still not even a majority.

It really is pathetic how far the Brits have sunk, yet they seem disinterested in really doing anything much about it. I do wish the useful, productive Europeans would just abandon Europe and come to America. We really need to get all the conservative, traditionally minded people in one place and make sure socialism can’t take root in it.
