WASHINGTON In a case that pits nondiscrimination policies against freedom of religion, the Supreme Court is grappling with whether universities and colleges can deny official recognition to Christian student groups that refuse to let non-Christians and gays join.
The high court was to hear arguments Monday from the Christian Legal Society at the University of California's Hastings College of the Law. The Christian group said its constitutional freedoms of speech, religion and association were violated when it was denied recognition as a student group by the San Francisco-based school.

I guess if I were trying to start a Christian group of any kind, I would start it off every meeting with the Creed and the Lord’s Prayer. If anyone can get through those two prayers, out loud, then maybe they are worth having. I’m reading The Quest for Shakespeare, The Bard of Avod and the Church of Rome by Joseph Pearce which I recommend. He spends a lot of time talking about the Elizabethan terror campaign against Catholics. Chilling.
If the court rules that a specialized group cannot limit itself to that specialty, then that will sure screw things up.
They would be agreeing that the Westboro Baptist Church can join the Democratic National Committee. That the KKK can join the NAACP. Essentially, they’re saying that specialized groups cannot exist.
