Joe Klein: Yes, Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck 'seditious'
Politico ^ | 4/19/10 | Andy Barr

Rebutting attacks from conservative critics, Time columnist Joe Klein on Monday said he stands his assertion that Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin are coming close to being “seditious” in their attacks on President Barack Obama.

During an appearance Sunday on NBC’s “The Chris Matthews Show,” Klein said that much of the heated political rhetoric “especially the ones coming from people like Glenn Beck and to a certain extent Sarah Palin, rub right up close to being seditious.”

Klein was criticized by conservatives over the remark – which received play on the Drudge Report, National Review and the conservative media monitor NewsBusters.

“Liberals are all too often eager to charge conservative personalities of using hyperbole to gain a political advantage, especially when it contradicts their world view - whether it's suggesting the Obama administration is taking the country down the path of socialism, fascism or any other –ism,” wrote NewsBusters’ Jeff Poor. “However, it could be argued there's a different set of standards for those same people when they want to make strong charges.”

Klein defended his comment in a post on Time’s blog “Swampland” Monday as not at all out of bounds.

“On the Chris Mathews Show Sunday, I said that some of the right-wing infotainment gasbags — people like Glenn Beck etc. — were nudging up close to the edge of sedition. This has caused a bit of a self-righteous ruckus on the right,” Klein wrote. “Let me be clear: dissent isn't sedition. Questioning an Administration's policies isn't sedition. But questioning an Administration's legitimacy in a manner intended to undermine or overthrow it certainly is.”

Where was Joe when Lefties were in the streets screaming "Selected, Not Elected" about President Bush? Was that seditious Joe? Hummmmmm?

How about those protestors in San Fran waving signs that said "We'll support our troops when they shoot officers". Was that seditious Joe? Hummmm?

.
If the Administration is not legitimate — what are you supposed to do?

Not dissent?

Doesn't make sense.

I expect this meme to grow in the media as a prelude to the Alien and Sedition Acts II.

Sedition isn’t always a crime. Laws against sedition come and go. Treason is defined in the Constitution and I can’t think of a case of treason on the basis of “speech” since the trials following WWII for Axis propagandists.

It’s hard to be calling for “seditious” overthrow of the government when you are calling for a RETURN to our Constitutional form of government.

COMMUNISTS (the ones the Left denied were a Red Menace) DID call for seditious overthrow of our form of government. And they did so in partnership with Stalin’s USSR.

Joe Klein can go suck a lemon.

Oh, you mean like the "selected, not elected" meme we heard for eight years from the Left?

After going through the record, I’d guess that Klein is guilty of treason, many times over.

So according to Joe Klein’s reasoning, every libtard who questioned the 2000 election results and claimed that Term 1 of the Bush presidency was illegitimate because it was a “stolen” election was a seditionist...

Pot... kettle... black.

I allowed my Time Mag subscription run out a few months ago due to Joe Klein. Got tired of reading his fawning over Obama every damned issue.

I can’t say I’m the biggest fan of Sarah’s. But to me she is an example of exactly what an American should be.
