WASHINGTON -- President Barack Obama will deliver the eulogy Sunday for the 29 miners who died in a coal mine explosion earlier this month.

The service, announced today by West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, will be held in Beckley, W.Va., and will include prayers, musical performances, tributes to the miners, and remarks from Mr. Manchin and other dignitaries.

Vice President Joe Biden will join the president to participate in the service, according to a White House news release issued today.

The service will be held at the Beckley-Raleigh County Convention Center, at 200 Armory Drive in Beckley, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. Seats are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

I can't believe the families couldn't stop this if they wanted to. Obama is already made the mine owners the bad guys and the money will flow. My husband has mined for thirty some years and after a death there's always the issue of money....just sayin’.

Yes, perhaps he could elucidate how his pals who own Indonesian coal mines could help put US miners out of work as the “import” so called clean coal. The same people who were friends with Billy and Hilly. Mining is dangerous. Nuclear is better, Obama.... where is our nuclear industry?
Aircraft carriers don’t need to be refueled for 20 years... but that doesn’t line democratic asshole politician’s pockets as well as vote buying in WV. I wonder if Jay Rockefeller plans on being there... since he owns 90% of all coal rights UNDER the land in WV and it was his coal they were digging. Assholes, all of them, and with no dignity or respect for the miners, period. This state DID NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA.

So he can fly off the Check-Republic, to sign a dirty rotten backstabbing document with Russia, but not to Poland?

WTH? Is Poland to become persona non grata?

But, the pres-ent will deliver a eulogy to some miners?

Get real.

Maybe he will announce the closing of all coal mines by the energy dept, so events like this never happen again...

I so wish he was going to be anywhere but at a funeral memorial. I would be there to make some noise. However, this is not the place for protest. Unfortunately.

This WV boy does not like it. I appreciate a Presidents concern and even a visit to our Great State, but not this President. Everything this man stands for is 100% against what most hard working West Virginian’s stand for. This visit will be 100% for his political agenda on cap & trade (cap & tax). I can already hear his forked tongue in future speeches after this memorial.

Two basic observations. Odd that both Joe Biden and the President were in the same building at the same time. They apparently have zero fear of an attack by Bin Laden on them.

Second...once the safety report comes back and the violations are obvious...with dozens of other companies committing the same violations...the President will come to the conclusion that only the federal government can run the mine safety program....which naturally would require a coal tax. It’s a virtual guaranteed thing that we face a coal tax by December, and a government safety program comes out of nowhere.

Oh, and ask yourself...over fifty years...how many Presidents have ever shown up at a miner’s funeral memorial service?
