PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona House on Monday voted for a provision that would require President Barack Obama to show his birth certificate if he hopes to be on the state's ballot when he runs for re-election.

The House voted 31-22 to add the provision to a separate bill. The measure still faces a formal vote.

What I find so entertaining about this birther stuff is that if Obama could stop it all by showing his papers, and doesn't, he thinks it means he's clever and driving people to distraction, when it actually just makes him look like a weirdo.

If you could end all of this by simply showing some papers, why don't you?

Because 0bama doesn’t show you his papers. You show him your papers. He runs this regime. It’s his rules, not ours.

Interesting to see what ahppens if this actually becomes the law in a few states. Even if it will be only, I guess, Red states that will put such a legislation on the books, what will president 0 do?

To win the election he may not have to contest those states, but then not even the MSM can avoid asking the question: Why does he not show his papers??

Maybe this thing is finally getting legs. But I don’t see how it will ever be proved on way or the other because the msm would be clearly shown for the fraud it is. They never asked any questions, almost as if they knew they would find something they didn’t want to know. Look at what they did to Sarah Palin after it was announced that she would be mccain’s running mate. The media cannot allow this to examined period, even obumber is found legit they will still be exposed for their deliberate cover-up. In for a penny, in for a pound, and they msm is clearly in up to there neck in this deception.

What that is, is another matter, and is unknown for certain.

I've argued this with birthers all along: I don't think the birth certificate/location of birth is "it" at all. It's something else.

I want the Arizona state legislature to move to my state. They’re knocking them out of the park, one after the other.

Good on you, Arizona.

Or it could be another father listed which destroys a BHO, Sr. myth

But if that real father is a US Citizen ,(assuming birth in HI,) his Natural Born Citizen problem goes away.

Seems to me that holding onto the "myth" wouldn't be as important as holding onto the office.

Honestly I think he was born in Hawaii but that s as far as I’m willing to go.

What does he have to hide?

Everything, just think about this.

First his biological father was Kenyan that by itself creates the whole dual American/British citizenship question.
But his biological mother, Stanley Ann Dunham was a hard leftist PhD. What if while she and Obamas father were studying Russian she had renounced her citizenship with plans to go to Russia with Obama’s father before she became pregnant or back to Kenya or who knows?

Its a stretch but possible, we know little about her.

Now you have a situation where the dad is Kenya and the mother is more or less a person w/o a country, but she is allowed to return to Hawaii to give birth.

Next possibility is that when she married Lolo Soetoro and moved to Indonesia, LoLo adopted Obama and had his citizenship changed to that of Indonesian and Ann renounced hers too.

Now you have both in a very gray area of legal qualifications regarding natural born, or even citizens at all.

So the question needs to be asked...

What process is in place if after Obama became 18, he was back in the US, had been here for 8 years and now he wants to become a US citizen.

And his excuse is I never renounced my citizenship my parents did. I want it back.

So all of this or any part of it is documented, original birth certificates were issued and reissued over and over reflecting the changes as he went thru any of what I just described.

I’m sure that the reason Obama is hiding his BC is because its a freaking mess, something similar to what I just described. And if it all came out, it would take 10,000 lawyers the same number of years just to figure out how to file the response to the law suit, let alone make any type of coherent argument for Obama.

I think such law should be enacted in all states regardless of 0bama’s status because it’s required by the constitution.

I am a Glenn Beck fan—but his behavior about the birther issue is bizarre. First, there’s the absurd claim that, in order for anyone to put a fake birth announcement in the newspapers, they must have planned to put Barack in the White House!

Then, there’s the theory that Obama is withholding his birth certificate from public view just to make birthers look stupid.

I think Obama knows he’s a lame duck the moment one state passes a law requiring a long-form birth certificate.

Yeah, I don't apologize for thinking the birthers like Beck look a bit, uh, overly focused? Yet I hope I have to change my mind about them!

I almost said I think Obama knows he's a lame duck, anyway, but then I remember him saying we all owe him thanks for reducing our taxes. The guy's absurd.

He is indeed a lame duck, for many reason, one of which will be any state, just one passing such a law as this.

He will quietly bow out of the race prior to the DNC Convention citing something like family and of course how successful his one term was.

You may be onto something. I, too, have thought he might not run for a second term. The amount of time he spends playing golf (already more than Bush 43 played in 8 years), some of the things he’s said and done, make me think he’s already achieved all he needs to get into the history books and he knows it, and would rather go out to loving crowds and read speeches and that’s all. Even his biggest fan can’t argue he’s very engaged in the job, other than those parts involving cameras and applause.

"If you could end all of this by simply showing some papers, why don't you?"

He doesn't because he can't. His paper trail is a path of incrimination that quickly leads to impeachment. Nobody would suffer all this controversy needlessly.

Do you have proper Tea Party attire?:

If he could win a second term like Bill Clinton, he would stay and run again. But too much is piling up for him to want to say.

From the possibility that he could find himself in the embarrassing spot of not being on the ballot in all 50 states.

To the fact that most of the real trouble with the economy will come crashing down to earth during his second term.

Deficits, Heath Care etc...

His last two years will be none events, due to the lock the Repubs will have on Congress come November, so nothing more of his will pass after that. And there is a real possibility the Repubs will refuse to fund Health Care in lieu of raising taxes on us.

Bambi will be in a bad boat without the whole birth certificate mess in 2012, if he has it to worry about as well. Yeah he’s gone.
