Why We Don't Need To Sign Beck's 'Pledge Of Nonviolence'
Bob Parks: Black & Right ^ | 4/24/10 | Bob Parks

Posted on 04/24/2010 1:40:11 PM PDT by bocopar

This is one of those instances where I politely question the motives of Glenn Beck. Is he sincere about his convictions or is this 'Pledge of Nonviolence' a ratings stunt?

Below is the Pledge of Nonviolence that Martin Luther King, Jr. asked those who believed in his message to abide by as well as his core principles of nonviolence.

I am going to ask you to make the same commitment to nonviolence and give you the opportunity to make that pledge public by having you ‘sign’ these documents below.

-glenn

This is almost the same ploy I got from that Princeton professor on Al Sharpton's show: his repeated asking that I agree Tea Party racism be condemned. Why should I condemn something that wasn't and by doing so, be validating a falsehood?

Martin Luther King Jr. was only one component in the civil rights battles. Part of the battle was won when folks in their living room watched black citizens being taken down by dogs and hoses and said “This is ENOUGH!”

Just my take on it.

“A people unwilling to use EXTREME VIOLENT FORCE to perserve or obtain their liberty deserves the tyrants that rule them.” Thomas Jefferson

At some point we may need to not play nice.

Plus when Beck speaks the truth to power concerning the BC issue I will give him some creds, not now.

Will the Left take the pledge of non-violence?

Here’s why we don’t need to sign it: Non-violence only works against civilized (or at least semi-civilized) opponents.

Our opponents are by no means civilized. Some of them have already indicated a willingness to kill millions of us to achieve their ends.

Sadly, it may come down to a real fight before this is over.

Pish-tosh, Mr. Beck. I don’t have the slightest desire to use violence, or even strong language, at this point, but if it becomes necessary - Chicago thugs in my front yard - I’ll shoot them down in a second.

oh, please! I attended the 9/12 and 3/20 Tea Parties in DC and you’d be hard pressed to find a more all-American peaceful crowd. Angry? You bet! But violent? Hardly.

Beck has become BOR’s buttboy. Whatever good he does is offset by his foolishness. Can’t watch any more.

Kind of like I should take a pledge not to beat my wife. Why play into the stereotypes of the left? Plus we should NOT take such a pledge because this country was founded out of violence.

My take is — he’s under extreme pressure these days because, for one thing, the Left continues to paint him as a seditionist; notice he never, ever says “buy a gun” — he just says “prepare”.

True.....I cannot listen to Beck....who is Obama Enabler regarding the Obama BC issue. How can you trust someone that mocks those who are defending the US Constitution against Obama?

Also, to note....M L King, and Gandhi, who both pushed non-violence....were both assasinated. Problem with preaching non-violence is that your enemy does not listen....

I’m sorry but Glenn Beck’s off the deep end on a bunch of things. That’s fine, that’s who he is.

this is one of them. He’s letting the left control the debate by being suckered down this line of thought. He’s making it a legitimate issue by doing this.

It’s stupid to even consider. It’s like he wants us to be like Obama on missile defense.

Why would we not reserve the right to defend ourselves by signing a non-violent pledge? If a threat appears and starts attacking tea party people, we’re not going to defend ourselves? If anyone did sign such a stupid pledge and we have to defend ourselves, MSM and Obama and whoever else - “Can’t trust those tea party people, they signed a non-violence pledge and look they were fighting back!!”

Give me a break. Glenn really has to spend more time thinking some things through rather than having a quick gut reaction to certain things because the ‘flow’ of the program just takes his mouth there.

Beck is controlled opposition. Besides he has all his faith in that moon cult he belongs to. I am sure he’s convinced the worse it gets the sooner Joseph Smith returns with the lost gold tablets or some such nonsense.

Sorry, I’m only good for one Oath at at time. I took one to defend the Constitution of the United States 30+ years ago.

By any means necessary.
