U.S. official: N. Korea torpedo likely sunk S. Korean warship

A North Korean torpedo attack was the most likely cause for the sinking of a South Korean warship last month, according to a U.S. military official.

The United States believes the ship was sunk by the blast of an underwater explosion, but that the explosive device itself did not come in contact with the hull of the South Korean ship, the official said. This is the same conclusion expressed by South Korean military officials.

The U.S. Navy has an investigative team assisting the South Koreans.

The U.S. official declined to be named because of the sensitivity of the matter and due to the fact neither South Korea or the United States has publicly discussed any potential response.

The Korea Times is reporting a Chinese developed Type EO-3G torpedo may have been the weapon used. It is said to have the homing capability to hit a ship after tracking the vessel's screws acoustically. U.S. Navy warships are equipped with sophisticated sensors and acoustic technology aimed at tracking such threats.

I’m in favor of bombing Pyongyang into the Middle Ages...

And that would change their current standard of living how?

This is a TWA flight 800 test. They wanted to test to see if Clinton would make good on staying quiet about pre 911 terror infiltration. They are testing the Obama waters to see if he is not compromised yet. It’s a bleed out.

This wanton act of war must be met with massive and horrifying retaliation sufficient to send a message to these communists. If we only had a male leader.

Obama will make it clear to the rest of the world that America intends to stick it’s head in the sand if one of our former allies is attacked. Taiwan will be next.

Nah, “O” will probably just bow to Kim Jong-Il and ask him nicely to please refrain from such activities in the future or he won’t be his friend.

I just looooove the title "U.S. official: N. Korea torpedo likely sunk S. Korean warship" Isn't it just a tad bit obvious?

We have no leadership. The Rinos/Congress are wussies, who confuse Laissez Faire and Lazy Fare.

We let the Nazies take the lead against the communists in Germany, and then the communists take the Nazies out, and this has been going on for a while, with FDRists even going to the extent of admiring the leadership of thugs, letting it to them.

America has dirty diapers and still cannot clean after its own self, too shy and too embarassed to go to the bathroom now and wipe the crap out of this world with a clean swipe of nukes.

What happened to us? Are we that ineffective, “fat and slobby”? It’s pathetic.

Anybody think Kim would have pulled this under Dubya? Or any pub? Or even 90% of the rats? But under zero, hey, anything blows.

Apropos of nothing, an earlier Demwit president who claimed to be a peacenik but was trying to maneuver the US into war was Woodrow Wilson. Elected by less than a majority (ahem) in 1912, he was reelected in 1916 behind the slogan, “He kept us out of war”.

Wilson took home the Nobel Peace Prize in 1919, the year after the war.

During his term (although it’s difficult to find this information on the web pages which have info on this) the Socialist Eugene V. Debs who had given a blistering speech against US involvement in WWI (in June 1918, almost five months before Armistice Day) was arrested, tried, convicted, and imprisoned for sedition, Wilson called him a traitor. Republican President Warren G. Harding pardoned Debs in 1921.

Debs’ earlier prison term was carried out during the Demwit Grover Cleveland’s administration.

My mind runs on sidetracks.

Anyway, the Lusitania was sunk in 1915. The United States did NOT enter the war until 1917, and NOT because of the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915.

Thanks jhpigott.

U.S. official: N. Korea torpedo likely sunk S. Korean warship

That should read “torpedo likely SANK S. Korean warship.”

It’s sink, sank, sunk. The past tense is sank. Past participle is sunk, as in “the boat has sunk.”
