So they found the builder’s plaque revealing the Ark’s registration name was the SS Minnow? That explains a lot.

So true - but I still take the "findings" with grain of salt. It seems that the Ark has been "found" every two years or so for a while.

Would love to discover they really have found at least something that could be it...

It would be strange were you not to find other boat remains in mountains from the flood. Many nations retain stories of Noah and the ark; Greco-Roman and Chinese literature describe handfuls of people and animals surviving here and there on high places or anything which could float for most of a year. The story of Noah is true; the idea that nothing survived outside of the ark is problematical.

This will be simple to debunk if it IS a hoax. I don’t see how anybody could have hoped to profit from a hoax of this sort, too easy to debunk, not enough money in it one way or other.

Actually, no. What if the wood is dated at 4800-5000 yr old? If it is not the Ark and is a fraud, it’s a fraud built many hundreds of years ago, as there is no record of its construction. So, how would someone (actually many people) find enough wood all dated the same at several thousand years old, where they have no way to date the wood they find? If all the wood dates as being 5000 yr old, there would be no way to explain its construction unless it was built 5000 yr ago. If it was built 5000yr ago, there is no way to explain what it’s doing at the 13000’ level on the side of a mountain.

So, if the wood all dates as being this old.....

This is one of the most re posted stories on FR, and perhaps because it seems so far to be the most credible. However, other Christian researchers are skeptical: http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=146941

Came across this foreign made video, which while obviously fiction, has some interesting footage. Noah’s Ark comes to the White house. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvAtRmaHraM&NR=1

I just found out my sister knows one of the scientist who explored inside the ship, and that the structure being shown has been found some time ago but not by Chinese explorers, and it’s just now hitting the mainstream news when she learned the same months ago right from the source. She also said the what is being shown in the media is just part of what they found, and that the ship (and he says it most definitely is a ship) is in two separate sections as if broken in half.

I called my sister last night and learned a little more than what she wrote in the e-mail to me. Were going to talk more later today when we see each other at a family gathering.

My sister rights:

“This has been discovered long before by my friend Dr. Ron Charles. You are seeing just a portion of it in the media. I have heard the personal stories on the discovery directly from him. Very interesting. The discovery was done by Dr. Ron Charles and his exuviating crew. I have a lot of info that I can get. He will be here in June for a few days you are welcome to come and talk with him. He will be at our church he is personal friends with my pastor, I have also had him overnight with his wife here. I have a great book from Dr Ron Charles you should read of all the discoveries he has made.
I have his wife on face book but he has to play it low key because of other things he is involved that is dangerous to be public knowledge.”

If it is a fraud, I sure would like to know how they got lava to cover part of it.

See post #69

Mount Ararat was most notably Volcanically active around 3000 b.c. and a few times since. You will notice the lava flow covering the wooden beams in some places and actually ending the beams as they burnt through them in attached picture (left center). Hard to plant something like this. Either this is Noah’s Ark or an old man-made structure

The multiplicity of flood stories is more likely the result of a single shared memory stemming from the retelling of the original flood story by Grandpa Noah, propagating into future generations tracking on migration paths.

Therefore, no, nothing about the event predicts finding multiple boats lying around. Quite the opposite. If the story is true, as you seem to grant (and I agree), then the supernatural design of the event must be considered. If, as the story infers, God intended to wipe out all human and otherwise mammalian life, and only spare Noah et al, and if only Noah acted on the belief that a crisis was impending, then it follows that God, as God, would be able to accomplish his stated goal, and that Noah would therefore be the only one prepared for the massive scale of the approaching cataclysm.

There is no way to "prove" any event from history. The historical method does not lend itself to "proof." "Proof" requires a controlled experiment that is repeatable in laboratory conditions. However, it is possible to provide enough evidence that all but the most recalcitrant skeptic must accept the findings.

For example, the explorers could take photos that are timestamped and gps'd. The explorers could take others up to the same location who could verify what was found. There is much evidence that could be put forward that the explorers have yet to provide. I am skeptical of this too. However, I am open to being convinced if enough evidence is put forward. I suggest a similar openness on your part.

I have a question about the Ark: If the Ark settled high on Mt. Ararat it's safe to presume the water level was pretty high and that it settled on what would basically be an island sticking up out of the water. There would be similar islands sticking up all over the place till the water could recede.

Where did the animals go? Wouldn't they have been stuck on a bare mountain with no food? How did they travel from one island to the next?

Or, did the waters magically disappear revealing the earth as it is today?

Just because someone is a Christian, doesn't mean they have to check their intellect at the door. The story of Noah is so facially absurd and completely counter to principles of well-understood physics, geology, animal husbandry, and naval architecture, common sense dictates that the story be discounted as myth, rather than historical fact.

The only thing that someone with a reasonable understand of modern science can say about the Arc, exactly like the Unicorn that is found in multiple Biblical passages, is that there is no scientific evidence to support any kind of belief in its existence.

I think there is a carbon dating already in existence on the wood that puts it in the 4700-4800 BC range. Some samples have been taken with grain which will ultimately permit matching to give you the time line when the tree was growing.

Faulsteich (Christian Chronology Reaserch) places the flood at 2368 (?) (first half of the 24th Century BC) so if Noah built for several hundred years which I believe is consistent with the Bible story, this probably fits.

Many of the rest of the competing stories reflect the same structure; broken in half on the mountain; and the airplane pictures are the same; as well as the guide stories from the 1800's.

I am a fundamental Bible Christian--I believe the story because the Bible says so. But this is an interesting artifact.

I guess you have not really looked into the scientific evidence of the flood. What maybe you fail to understand is that science is the study of, and biblical and spiritual things are part of that eventhough the darwinists have hikacked science and try to redefine it and have taken the spitual out of it. You obviously have checked your commonsense at the intellectual door. God does amazing things and was ablle to do what He needed to do ..whether or not we can prove it scientifically is beside the point. What will you say when and if this site is verfied as being Noah’s ark?

"What will you say when and if this site is verfied as being Noah’s ark?"

I would say the same thing I said when the Bigfoot carcass from a couple years ago was "verified" to be Bigfoot - show me the scientific evidence - evidence that was tested and verified by independent laboratories and authorities.

With respect to "scientific evidence" of a world-wide flood some 4,800 years ago - there isn't any. All there is the musing of pseudo-scientists and quacks. 4,800 years, in geological terms, is barely a blink of an eye. Evidence of such a flood would be abundant, and so completely compelling that the "flood" would be taught in every college-level survey of geology in the world. It isn't. That should tell you something, but I suppose that it won't.

I went to a Catholic grade school, high school, college and graduate school, and never was instructed in science class about a most remote possibility of a "great flood", some 4,800 years ago.

If you asked such a question in a 100 level, survey of geology class, you would be laughed at, just like you would be laughed at if you posited that man and dinosaur walked the earth at the same time.

It's not a "religion of science", it's a fidelity to common sense based on empirical evidence, not spiritual belief.

” It seems that the Ark has been “found” every two years or so for a while.”

The reason for that is severe mountain weather. One year it’s exposed and then it’s buried in snow and/or ice for some years.

Despite weather you believe the flood was a actual event or not, if this structure is real and is as old as they are saying it is, (and all evidence is pointing that way), you would have to agree it's a fantastic archaeological find.

I happen to believe it was a real event, and I am in good company of other believers including Col Jim Irwin Ararat Explorer and NASA Astronaut.

I guess they carried up Lava Flows along with the Wood to create one of a kind elaborate Hoax OR They planted the Wood in a fashion to look like Lava is flowing over it.

Mount Ararat was most notably Volcanically active around 3000 b.c. and a few times since. You will notice the lava flow covering the wooden beams in some places and actually ending the beams as they seem burnt through in attached picture (left center). Hard to plant something like this. Either this is Noah's Ark or an old man-made structure (ref. 1840 volcanic activity) that has been exposed to volcanic activity.

Mount Ararat is known as a StratoVolcano. This Lava tends to be Glassy like. Giving it a shimmer. In addition ice is covering the lava adds to the shimmer. It's a naturally occuring Glass called Obsidian which is found in Felsic Lava flow and is caused when this lava cools very quickly (like in a VERY cold enviroment on top at 13k Feet on Mount Ararat). Click Here for StratoVolcano Wiki The lava that flows from stratovolcanoes tends to be viscous; it cools and hardens before spreading far. The magma forming this lava is often felsic, having high-to-intermediate levels of silica (as in rhyolite, dacite, or andesite), with lesser amounts of less-viscous mafic magma. Picture of Obsidian Lava almost identical to the Chinese explorer picture I posted above.

"You will notice the lava flow covering the wooden beams"

What I see is a picture of a few beams surrounded by some stone, which might be igneous or sedimentary rock. I have NO WAY of knowing where this picture was taken, when those beams were placed there or for what reason, and neither do you.

Why you would displace common sense and elementary principles to blindly believe some internet story, is a mystery.

Let me put this thought out there:

What if we found evidence of extra-terrestrial life on the planet, and not single-cell organisms but artifacts?

Now take those same questions and apply them to finding a biblical artifact.

What would result?

So I guess you see no Black Lava Glass like substance covering the beams in the left center of the picture?

I do my Due Diligence before I post information.

This type of Lava you see (glass like) (or don’t see) is common with this type of volcano.

I have no position on believing or not believing. I look at the pictures to determine if they make sense given where they are supposively from.

Have you done any due diligence research? Instead of making elementary obvious comments?
