The widely-respected British Economist has come up with a new anti-Israel libel: Jerusalem traffic lights are timed to discriminate against Arabs. The pro-Hamas Al Jazeera Arab satellite network picked up the story and showed its readers one of the intersections in question.
The CAMERA (Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America) media watchdog group researched the claim and found it a total fabrication.
At CAMERAs request, The Economist provided it with a list of the intersections where Arabs allegedly have to wait a longer time than Jews. CAMERA said that its investigation reveals that The Economist and Al Jazeera claims are absurdly false and that the discrepancy between the timing is related to street size and traffic flow, as in every other city in the world.
The Economist claimed that cars approaching an intersection from two Arab neighborhoods in northern Jerusalem have only 18 seconds to proceed on a green light while motorists from the nearby Jewish areas of Pisgat Zeev and Neve Yaakov have a 90-second light.
However, CAMERA points out that the road from the Jewish neighborhoods is part of the major artery known as Highway 1, where traffic is much heavier than the road from the Arab neighborhoods of Shuafat and Beit Hanina.
In fact, at another nearby intersection of Highway 1, Jewish residents from Ramot Eshkol and Givat HaMivtar have only 16 seconds to proceed on a green light while having to wait one minute and 41 seconds, the time allotted for cars to pass the intersection on the main highway.

two Arab neighborhoods in northern Jerusalem
Arabs in "northern" Jerusalem? Then why can't Jews live in "East" Jerusalem?
We have some serious human rights issues here!

LOL!
You just can’t make this up.
I’m so sick of these whining cultures. Is there such a thing as cultural psychosis?? I believe there is.
People are so stupid they would believe anything.
JMHO....
I will pass on taking a vacation in Londonistan!
You're obviously an evil racist!
Of course traffic is heavier from the Jewish neighborhoods. They’re all working instead of home making bombs to blow up their kids.
Sounds like Pelosi is on a Middle Eastern trip. LOL
How many ways can someone point to themselves & prove how stupid they are?????
This is just plain nuts.
CAMERA is a good organization imo. Better than Media Matters and other Soros clones
My father was all for giving both sides all the weapons they wanted and let them go at it. When it got down to only one left, shoot him and the problem would be solved.
I seriously wish the Jews would just exterminate all the roaches that threaten their existence....
Camels are colorblind and slow to accelerate.
Not only that, but there is more sunshine in Jewish neighborhoods than in Muslim neighborhoods. The economist measured photosynthesis levels of crab grass, dandelions and thorn bushes on undeveloped hillsides in Jewish neighborhoods as compared to Arab neighborhoods, and discovered that the crab grass, dandelions and thorn bushes in Jewish neighborhood of Mah Zeh had more chlorophyll per square centimeter of live vegetation than the Arab crab grass, dandelions and thorn bushes, because the Jewish vegetation is situated on the North slope of the Jerusalem hill, the South side being developed, while in the Arab neighborhood of Su Haathaa, the South slope is undeveloped, while the North slope is built up. This is obviously discriminatory, and the Economist urged that all Jewish development in Mah Zeh be bulldozed, and rebuilt on the North slope, so that their wild vegetation will have just as little chlorophyll as that in nearby Su Haathaa.
Actually this sounds like a promising idea. I’d like to see them set the traffic lights in my town so that Obama voters have to wait longer at a red light than people who voted against Obama.
