Dobson: GOP misled me on Rand Paul
Politico ^ | 05/03/2010 | Josh Kraushaar

Christian conservative leader James Dobson withdrew his endorsement of Kentucky Senate candidate Trey Grayson Monday, switching his support to Rand Paul’s campaign and accusing “senior members of the GOP” of misleading him about Paul’s record on abortion.

Dobson said in an audio recording that he made an “embarrassing mistake” as a result of misunderstanding Paul’s position on abortion.

“I was given misleading information about the candidacy of Dr. Rand Paul, who is running in the Republican Primary for the U.S. Senate. Senior members of the GOP told me Dr. Paul is pro-choice and that he opposes many conservative perspectives, so I endorsed his opponent,” Dobson explained. “But now I've received further information from OB/GYNs in Kentucky whom I trust, and from interviewing the candidate himself.”

Kentucky Right to Life, the state’s largest anti-abortion organization, has endorsed Grayson in the primary

I think you have to look carefully at some of these RTL groups, which may be politicized. I know which ones I trust, but I don't know this one. Same with the Tea Party, which was kidnapped in one state.

As for “senior members of the GOP," I would trust them about as far as I could kick them.

The higher up in the party, the less trustworthy, these days. Because they have cushier jobs, more to lose in a real conservative reform, more practice at lying, and probably got where they are by prostituting themselves.

These Vichy Republicans need a collaborators haircut. Followed by a liberal application of tar and feathers.

I know nothing about Rand’s stand on abortion.

But I do know his father’s stance. While I do not support Ron Paul on many issues, I do know that his pro-life record is among the best of any politican in the nation.

FWIW.

Singularly and historically appropriate, don’t you think?

I suspect John Cornyn is at the root of this lie against Rand.

He’s screwed up every primary, he’s had his RINO hand in.

Rand Paul has already betrayed us with his “blame America” rhetoric that apologizes to terrorists. To promote the Paul agenda would be a National Security disaster. Dobson is making a huge mistake.

So ‘my way’ of not wanting to support a candidate who is clueless in regards to National Security and spouts rhetoric blaming America and apologizing for terrorists (just like the democrats have) is what you are opposed to? Sorry but it is your BS that is not worth buying, not mine.

The prolifers who object to Rand’s position are doing so on a principled basis. Rand would say he is prolife, but he defers to federalism by defending the right of individual states to continue aborting babies as they see fit. Murder is murder is murder, and while individual states may vary in how they punish it, the fundamental right, both natural and constitutional, to life remains a universal obligation to defend, and not something individual states can opt out of. That is a legitimate criticism of Rand’s prolife posturing, and Dobson is turning a small mistake into a big one.

Dobson should be ashamed of himself. Rand Paul is pro-choice for states on abortion.

Then you’re just trading one line of BS for another. It’s time to trade up. Compromise is how we got to this hell-hole we’re in and succumbing to yet more compromise will not get us out. Do the math.

Agree Compromise IS the problem. Compromise is ONLY good 1 time only. That tactic should be as rare as constitutional convention, and NOT part of the daily routine. If you keep coming back to the table, then you are slowly giving away your ground.
