Dobson: GOP misled me on Rand Paul
Politico ^ | 05/03/2010 | Josh Kraushaar

Christian conservative leader James Dobson withdrew his endorsement of Kentucky Senate candidate Trey Grayson Monday, switching his support to Rand Paul’s campaign and accusing “senior members of the GOP” of misleading him about Paul’s record on abortion.

Dobson said in an audio recording that he made an “embarrassing mistake” as a result of misunderstanding Paul’s position on abortion.

“I was given misleading information about the candidacy of Dr. Rand Paul, who is running in the Republican Primary for the U.S. Senate. Senior members of the GOP told me Dr. Paul is pro-choice and that he opposes many conservative perspectives, so I endorsed his opponent,” Dobson explained. “But now I've received further information from OB/GYNs in Kentucky whom I trust, and from interviewing the candidate himself.”

In this primary race you are working for Trey Grayson to defeat Rand Paul, yet Rand Paul is seen by Kentucky primary voters as pro-life.

Trey Grayson is seen by Kentucky pro-choice voters as not being pro-life, how do you account for that?

How do you account that you are directing your efforts against the more pro-life candidate, in an effort to defeat him, giving the race to Trey Grayson?

So, troll, are you endorsing pro-choice for states, Libertarian, isolationist, blame-Israel and America-firster, Adam Kokesh-endorsing Rand Paul?

You are against Rand Paul in a two man race, that means you want Trey Grayson to win.

I am against Trey Grayson in a two man race, that means that I want Rand Paul to win.

I understand that both Pauls have an upside to them in regards to their commitment to limited government but… Both Pauls misrepresent the Founders in regards to National Security and are flat out nuts in that regard. I have no problem though with anyone being highly skeptical of the Republican party and how they have advanced bigger government or in being skeptical of the Patriot Act or Homeland Security. These are areas that we must debate and find the proper solution that can maintain the best possible National Security while maximizing liberty for all. Whereas both Ron and Rand Paul have gone off the charts in the statements they have made in blaming America and apologizing for terrorists. This make them both a danger to our nation politically.

Well, you own him then.

I endorse neither candidate in this particular race. I don’t find either one acceptable.

But, I will continue to fight the Pauls and their extremely destructive deceptions. They’re poisoning the body politic, especially the conservative body politic.

If Trey Grayson benefits from that, that God’s deal, not mine.

I doubt that God supports your man.

"Grayson leads today only among the 1 in 5 Republican primary voters who say they are pro-choice."

I doubt He supports someone who thinks states can kill babies if they want to.

And again, troll. You are a liar. There is no “your man” in my case, no matter how incessantly you lie.

Something that is scary about you since you run a political party, is how authoritarian you are, you just do not tolerate any political discussion from those that disagree with you, the name calling and insults start the second you hear a challenge.

In this primary race you are working for Trey Grayson to defeat Rand Paul, yet Rand Paul is seen by Kentucky primary voters as pro-life.

Trey Grayson is seen by Kentucky pro-choice voters as not being pro-life, how do you account for that?

As usual, troll, your post is fraught with willful inaccuracies.

And I will keep calling you “troll,” troll, as long as you keep acting like a troll. You’ve stalked me thread to thread for months, twisting my words, lying, and even misrepresenting who and what I am.

Rather than being a troll and lashing out and attacking people, why not just have simple exchanges about what you post on threads?

This is a two man race, Trey Grayson and Rand Paul, you are trying your best to stop Rand Paul, giving the race to Trey Grayson.

Are you so arrogant as to demand that we not question why you prefer Trey Grayson to Rand Paul?

I don’t prefer Trey Grayson. I support neither candidate. Are you deaf?

However, the Paul family, as I’ve said repeatedly (you never listen) is poisoning the entire conservative movement, nationwide, with their pro-choice for states, Libertarian, blame-America-first, anti-Israel isolationism.

Do you support Adam Kokesh like Rand and Ron Paul do?

I don’t prefer Trey Grayson. I support neither candidate. Are you deaf?

But you do.

In a two man race, you cannot dedicate yourself to defeating one, and pretend that you are not supporting the other, that is impossible.

Trey Grayson may not be your dream candidate, but you cannot pretend that you do not prefer him to Rand Paul.

What other unalienable rights do you think states can alienate besides the right to live?

In a discussion about Stalin’s gulags, the one who decries them cannot be said to therefore support Hitler. As usual, you don’t debate honestly. That is, when you actually bother to debate instead of erecting straw men for you to then burn down.

Do you endorse Adam Kokesh like Rand and Ron Paul do?

That is ridiculous.

In a Kentucky, Senatorial primary election between TWO candidates you can be neutral, but if you start actively working to make one of those two lose, then you are actively working to elect the other.

You are actively working to get Trey Grayson elected, why do you see him as the better candidate?

That is ridiculous.

Really? If we were discussing Stalin's gulags and I said how bad they were you would then claim that I therefore support Hitler? Wow.

No it isn’t, what is funny is in a two man race that someone is actively involved in, pretending that they are not helping candidate number two.

If you support Trey Grayson over Rand Paul, tell us why.

I think that Bunning, Steve Forbes, Concerned Women of America, Gun Owners of America, Sarah Palin and Dr. James Dobson have the right idea, that Grayson is the man to defeat.

Asking why you and EV are on the same side as the Pro-choice side in this race is a valid question.
