NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The sprawling Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center, Nashville's cornerstone in the travel industry, is closed indefinitely because of floodwaters from the nearby Cumberland River.

On Monday, neatly arranged dining tables at the resort east of downtown were sitting in up to 10 feet of dirty water as crates of wine glasses floated by.

Also, it looks like on e of my favorite hotels, the Downtown Nashville Hilton has taken a lot of damage.

Bad as Millington. Navy base flooded on the south side when the Big Creek Levy gave way, 300+ mobile homes in the Shady Oaks trailer park had 7 feet of water in them..no way to salvage them.

Ouch. That has been one of my favorite hotels. I’ve attended conferences there a couple of times and love all of the greenery and water features. Guess they have a few more of the latter now.

It’s a curious thing...my office sent down around a dozen folks for a conference...flew down on Saturday morning and it was supposed to start on Monday morning. By Sunday afternoon, they were forced out to higher ground...and Monday flew out of Nashville completely. They’d spent around four months preparing for this conference and a number of man-hours. Timing is everything.

Is that the hotel where the ducks walk around inside? I guess they don’t mind.

I’ve been helping a friend move from Shepherdsville to Radcliff today, and I went over the Rolling Fork River four times. The first time (around noon) the water was at the base of some street signs, but the last time (about an hour ago) I could barely see the tops of the signs. Fortunately, the water crested at 8 and is expected to slowly drop over the next couple of days.

That’s so sad. We never stayed there, but it sure was fun to walk around in. Boohoo :(

The mall there is a total loss too. Water up to the roof. This is so devastating.

My son and his wife were there a month ago. They were heart broken looking at the photos.

Bass Pro was flooded. Don’t know if the aquarium there was contaminated. There is/was a 108 pound catfish there. Does anyone know if it’s still alive?

The restaurant with the aquariums there in the Mall had small sharks in their aquariums. Were they contaminated?

They had hundreds if not close to a thousand guitars to move upstairs. That many empty cases for each of those guitars is up there. I can’t imagine the scare and buzz for how many hours.... yikes!

A fretless archtop bass I just made was being delivered by an old friend on Sat. He drove by and thought “nah, it’s one heck of a wet day, I’ll wait”. Sure glad he did!

As you know, Gibson has a plant there, and they did get wet ...

From reports I’ve seen they’ve saved some of the fish at the Aquarium Restaurant. I haven’t heard about Bass Pro Shops. That aquarium wall is pretty high so I don’t know if water got in it or not?
