Three British scientists shocked the world when they revealed on May 16th, 1985 - 25 years ago - that aerosol chemicals, among other factors, had torn a hole in the ozone layer over the South Pole. The ozone layer, which protects life on Earth from damaging solar radiation, became an overnight sensation. And the hole in the ozone layer became the poster-child for mankind's impact on the planet.

In 2008 Rush Limbaugh had his 20th anniversary week in August of that year. Throughout the week he played tapes of shows from the previous 20 years. One tape from 1992 was a debate between Rush and Algore about the hole in the ozone layer over the south pole. Algore was screaming that if something isnt done fast that by 2002, five to ten thousand people a day will be dying from skin cancer. As usual he was wrong.

That hole just bought a $ 8.7 million mansion in Montecito, CA.
This will be the hole’s “A” home.
Otherwise known as the “A-hole”.

Yeah, I want my R-12 Freon back. And my carbon tetrachloride. And my MEK.
Anybody remember the media saying there was an ozone hole "over Kennebunkport" [Maine, home of the Bushes]?

Here's a very interesting article:
The CFC Ban: Global Warming's Pilot Episode
These SOBs have been going back to this well over and over. Hopefully, AGW will prove to be a major setback for them, but they'll come up with something else in a few years to replace it with.

The goal was to raise taxes on your home A/C was met.
Lets see, R-12 was .86 cents/lb, R-22 was $2/lb wholesale, sold for $6 retail.
Now, you can't buy R-12, R22 has been run out of the market thanks to the R410a savior freon, that sells for what?? $20/lb.
You do the math. A 5% tax (pick a number) on $6/lb R22 vs 5% tax on freon selling at $20/lb and I have heard it is higher now. The cows think they are saving the world and glad to give the government more taxes.
Not only that, all the HVAC companies had to buy freon recovery machines,,, more taxes, and charge the customer more for using it, more taxes...
The hole in the ozone was a scam just like global warming.

The thinning was always measured over the Antarctic during our summer, and when the sun did NOT shine over the 'effected' area. I never heard a good explanation of how the "scientists" thought CFC's migrated from where they are used the most (northern hemisphere).....
.....and ended up at the south pole (exclusively).
