Rentboy Escort: I Gave `Sexual' Massages to Antigay Leader George Rekers
Miami Herald ^ | May 9, 2010 | Steve Rothaus

Posted on 05/09/2010 10:02:01 AM PDT by pinochet

An antigay psychologist's recent trip to Europe with a gay male escort from Miami has captivated readers and viewers around the world. Salacious stories have been published from South Florida to New Zealand, and it has been the butt of jokes by Jay Leno, Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.

And on Friday, the young escort at the center of the scandal spoke with CNN correspondent Randi Kaye for Anderson Cooper's prime-time show.

Jo-vanni Roman a k a Lucien -- told Kaye that psychologist George A. Rekers, an officer of the conservative National Association for Research & Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) and a retired University of South Carolina professor, paid him $75 a day plus expenses to travel with him for two weeks in April to London and Madrid.

Included for the money: Roman, 20, would give nude ``sexual'' massages to Rekers, 61, every day during their trip, the younger man told Kaye.

Gay activists and bloggers have pounced on the story: Rekers, a well-known antigay activist, recently was paid more than $120,000 by Florida to testify in defense of the state's gay-adoption ban

A second gay prostitute has come forward, and said that he had sex with Dr. George Rekers: http://beforeitsnews.com/news/41/328/Second_Gay_Escort_Claims_Sexual_Encounter_With_George_Rekers.html

Prominent social conservatives will now be terrified to speak out against the gay agenda, because the media will dig out dirt on their private lives.

The guy is referred to as an anti-gay activist. Is he really an activist, or has he been just pointing out the psychological problems related to homosexuality?

It is curious just how many hard-core anti-gay Republicans are secretly gay themselves. I’m no fan of state-sanctioned gay marriage, but if they want to form some sort of power-of-attorney or civil partnership regime under which they have inheritance and visitation rights etc., then I’m OK with that. And I’m otherwise inclined to live and let live when it comes to homosex, as long as they stay away from my kids. Maybe this is one area in which conservatives’ beliefs and public policies deserve a little more introspection.

The way the media is running away with the story, they are trying to send a message to social conservatives. If you speak out against the gay agenda, they will dig into your private life, until they come up with something.

The media is playing it up like this Doctor was some huge player in the social conservative movement. I, for one, had never heard his name until the story broke.

As for the allegations, I don't know if they are true or not. But, if they are, this idiot Doctor deserved to be outed, just like the gay Republican Senator that was playing footsy in the bathroom stall. The gay community and MSM might believe they are harming the social conservative movement by "outing" these types. In the short term they may be right, but in the long run they are doing us a favor by purging the movement of these hypocrites.

He should resign or be fired. Narth is a solid organization that helps people with sexual identity problems. This is an example of what happens when someone gets caught by the evil they wish to stamp out. Now we have to endure the stupid assault of those who disagree with gay activism being secret homosexauls. Now let prominent members of the ACLU or gay rights orgs get caught with child porn or sex problems and most of the time it is ignored. Let a handicapped soldier get raped by a superior gay officer and it’s no news, leg an openly gay aids researcher and a decon at a liberal church get caught molesting his 3 year adopted African American boy and pimping him out to strangers via web cam and it is not news.

>>>LOL! I’ve never heard of him either

It is the organizations that he founded that are famous, and have had an impact on the pro-family movement in America. He co-founded the Family Research Council in 1983, with Dr. James Dobson. He is also a co-founder of NARTH, an organization which turns gays into straight people. It seems he may need to use the services of NARTH, himself.

I’m not going to try to make any excuses or lash out at liberals or gay Leftists. This is damage that the social conservative movement has brought on itself. There is no deflecting or minimizing it. Rekers destroyed his own credibility and undermined the credibility of the groups he affiliated with. And to be so reckless about it—hiring gay prostitutes off a website. Like it or not, this is going to set back the traditional marriage and anti-gay adoption movements. Is the criticism and ridicule over the top? Sure. But that is no one’s fault but his and also Dobson’s for not investigating him better.

He certainly must be something of an expert on “psychological problems related to homosexuality”, because he has first hand experience.

Some of it may be because some are fighting personal demons or get drawn in too far. Some have been molested themselves. There is no simple answer. However it isn’t true that most who study homosexuals and disagree with it are secretly homosexual because most are not. It is far more likely that homosexuals will leave the gay lifestyle (quietly) than it is for antigay Republicans to come out as gay the difference is only in the reporting. It is like reporting the incidence of sex crimes by homosexual activists which is much higher than in the straights as is drug use as is suicide as is domestic violence. No one wants to prevent homosexuals from seeing their significant others at hospitals what we want them is out of our face and out of our schools and out of the streets doing things that no heterosexual could ever get away with but of course their excesses are never reported because too much time is spent reporting on priests.

Someone I never heard of allegedly paid for sex with another man I also never heard of. The first man denies the accusation.

This goes in the “who cares” bin.

It says absolutely nothing of the validity of the first man’s opinion about anything else, regardless of whether its true or not.

The entire idea that a political idea’s validity is contingent upon the morality and common sense of every single person who embraces that idea is just false.

Perhaps he was just doing research...ick.

My question really was rooted in the fact that libs accuse anyone who disagrees with them as being an activist, extremist, racist fill in the blank with some other ad hominem. That's not to detract that this guy appears to be a real hypocrite.
