David Brooks: "Bennett's Loss in Utah a 'Damn Outrage'" (Confirms Tea Party hit one Out-Of-The-Park)

“This is a damn outrage,” a disgusted David Brooks, the faux conservative columnist for the New York Times, declared on Sunday’s Meet the Press reacting to Republican Senator Bob Bennett’s loss Saturday at Utah’s Republican convention which chose two others to compete in a June primary for the seat. Brooks fretted he was punished for being “a good conservative who was trying to get things done” by “bravely” working with Democrats on health care and supporting TARP. “Now,” he repeated, “he's losing his career over that. And it's just a damn outrage.”

Sitting beside Brooks on NBC’s roundtable, liberal Washington Post columnist E.J. Dionne Jr,. a former New York Times correspondent, saw “almost a non-violent coup because they denied the sitting Senator even a chance of getting on the primary ballot.”

Over on Fox News Sunday, NPR’s Juan Williams expressed exasperation: “This is evidence of how the American political center is losing, on the right wing of the party a guy like Bob Bennett, who is a right-wing conservative, is being driven out because he’s not sufficiently conservative?”

I still support term limits—but how on earth would we get elected officials to support limiting themselves?

I do too.

ANSWER: WE the PEOPLE put mega-pressure for term limit legislation.

No more Bennett, Byrd, Kennedy, Reid, etc., etc. leeches. No matter how "great" you are, or sorry, you only have a finite time as a pol in our government, back to citizen public servants, no more royalty.

Compare this to your Founding Fathers who had to be pressed into service for the country. It wasn’t a “career” to them it was hard tough service of the people.

This sort of entitlement thinking is a major part of the problem!

It seems that Brooks considers it a real shame that people from a constituency have any say about who their representatives should be. I suppose that he would prefer that only the chattering class in Washington have a say in matters of such importance.

The NEW definition of a conservative is:

One who is principled enough to give the Marxist Rats the finger even when they use billions of taxpayer dollars to bribe him into voting for their anti-American, unconstitutionsl legislation, regardless of whether the bill has been written, or what method the Rats have chosen ram it down the throat of legal US Citizens.

Moderate conservative is all of the above, but is brave enough and patriotic enough to call Democrats bald-faced liars on the floor of the House or Senate chamber while in session and favors Joe McCarthy style inquisition to rid the government and country of subversive Marxist/ Communist Infiltrators/traitors.

Ultra conservatives believe Ronald Reagan was a soft leftist plant in the Republican party and that The leftist Commies in government and institutions of higher learning should be forcefully driven into jobs for companies whose voting members represent an new form of taxpayer-union. These companies will provide will provide transportation for illegal aliens back to their country of origin and serve as rick-shaw operators in the urban areas currently devastated by years of their leftist policies.

Bet on it.

The only people that believe David Brooks is a conservative voice are those at the New York Yimes.

Michael Medved had on David Frum today so that they could weep on each other’s shoulders over the outrage.

Ya, but you know what? Putting CONgress on term limits is actually trying to put our system of self/representative government on automatic pilot!

Once you get it done, like we have here in CA, it still doesn't do as much good as eternal vigilance because it throws the babies out with the bathwater!!!

Besides, it becomes a lobbyist's dream world with a new team of legislators to "break in" every so many years. They literally "train" and "groom" lawmakers non-stop and hire the graduates for their lobbying firm.

Even though we got rid of Willie Brown, we STILL haven't removed enough crazed liberal Demonicrats and things just keep getting worser and worser, faster and faster!!!

Republicans have to learn that “bipartisan” and “compromise” are by definition not one way streets.

If they “compromise” giving the Democrats half of what they want, so too, should Republicans be getting half of what they want.

Sadly, Republicans think that a constant stream of giving Democrat just half of what Democrats want, with nothing in return is just dandy, when in reality it's Charlie Brown (not) kicking the football as Lucy pulls it away time and again.

“When is that asshat Brooks gonna stop pretending to be a conservative?”

I suspect that by David’s standards that he IS a conservative. But what this really tells us where he thinks the center is. Where he’d put it is far to the left of where any “conservative” I know would put it. It is also an attempt on his part to control the conversation by defining for us in fly-over country what is right, left and center. It tells us that he understands nothing about socialism. His kind of center is only partly socialist. But only partly socialist is like being only partially pregnant. You either are or you aren’t. What so many on the rest of the political spectrum don’t understand is that anything but conservative is incremental socialism and all socialism ends up where the Soviet Union went. Bankrupt. That’s a destination we’re heading towards with all ram-jets on full throttle.

"Brooks fretted he was punished for being “a good conservative who was trying to get things done” by “bravely” working with Democrats on health care and supporting TARP." Sorry - a "good" conservative does not support Socialism.

By now, if you are still doing business with liberal fascists, you are either a collaborator (McCain, Graham) or you are too stupid to understand (Snowe) that you cannot do business with them. In any negotiation with liberal fascists, you will be required to surrender your principles, in exchange for which you will get nothing. Just as Muslims are taught by the Koran to deceive the infidel, liberal fascists have no moral boundary that requires them to act in good faith, honesty, or integrity. Anything is acceptable that promotes the cause of international totalitarian marxism. When you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas.
