I hate to say this, but it makes me doubt whether Bush was really pro-life. (Don’t forget, he wanted bra-burning leftist Harriet Miers on the USSC.)

Seriously, it’s such a deep, moral issue. Why do all these RINOs (GW Bush, GHW Bush, McCain, Dole) have pro-abortion wives? (Ms. Dole claimed to be a prolifer, but she now co-chairs with Christine Todd Whitman a PAC to purge pro-lifers out of the Republican Party, the insanely revealingly titled, “It’s MY Party [so just give us your money and votes get the hell out? -D] PAC”.) OK, an exception I could see — couples don’t always agree on even the most personal, moral issues — but they’re unanimously pro-abortion!

The abortion issue is red meat issue for the sheeple.

I’m convinced they have no intention of doing anything about it.

It’s too valuable as a fund raising issue to take it away.

dangus, I disagree. I belive GW was very consistent on the pro-life front, in spite of demoncrap, RINO and spousal pushback.
As far as Laura, I'm sad. She's still classy, but, hey, I'd take a classless staunch pro-life over an impeccable class-act pro-abortionist any day.

No Bush was ever pro-life. They always pandered to the religious right. Some here refuse to admit they were “had”. I won’t mention any names, because I don’t have time for a soap opera episode with ohioWfan. Oops..did I say that out loud? Sorry Maam.

Then don't say it! Why on earth would his wife's thoughts on the issue make you question the sincerity of the most pro-life President we have ever had. Nonsense!

Because the majority of women are pro-abortion. That is the ONLY reason baby murdering is still legal.

Nancy Reagan was not pro-life. She's also a big embryonic stem cell advocate. And, I have read she supports gay marriage, but I haven't seen any quotes directly attributed to her, so it's tough to know conclusively.

As a matter of historical factual accuracy, we have never had a conservative First Lady. Mimi Eisenhower is probably closest, although the social issues of today really didn't exist during her tenure, so it's difficult to tell precisely where she comes down on some of these issues. But, she probably had the most conservative and traditional personal life of any modern-day First Lady.
