Illegal KSU Student Found, But Arrest Warrant Stands

MARIETTA, Ga. - Attorneys for a Georgia college student whom authorities claim is in the U.S. illegally say she has been found after a warrant was obtained earlier Thursday for her arrest. They say she is safe, and they announced plans for a press conference on Friday to discuss her controversial situation.

Officials said 21-year-old Jessica Colotl, a Kennesaw State University student, was originally arrested during a traffic stop on the KSU campus back on March 30. At that time, campus police said Colotl was impeding the flow of traffic on campus, and had no driver’s license. She also had a hold placed on her by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, according to Cobb County authorities.

On Thursday, authorities said a warrant had been issued for Colotl’s arrest for providing false information about where she lived and what her phone number was— a felony— during that initial arrest on March 30.

they announced plans for a press conference on Friday to discuss her controversial situation.

Aren't these attorneys harboring a fugitive? Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this mean that the attorneys are sheltering her at this very moment?

And why are they referring to her predicament as merely a "controversial situation"? I don't like that phrasing, because when something is in controversy it implies that there are two sides to the story. There aren't. She is here and she is illegal. Period. She needs to go home, just like E.T.

This case will make the left’s head explode. Perhaps the left will boycott Georgia. In the news piece on this situation, there is an interview with a member of some latino politician group in Georgia. He indicates that regardless of her legal status, the Georgia sheriff should not initiate any action. He does not want any enforcement of immigration laws.

I suppose Chris Shaw could have written a more one sided story, if he really tried.

Maybe this is what the editor considers “balanced”.

Allrighty! Alma Mater Ping :-) It's not great news, but it's certainly interesting to see your school make the FR Headlines! Seriously, though, I can't figure out what Sheriff Warren is supposed to have done wrong: Colotl was stopped by KSU police, gave false information to those cops, and turned-up on the hold-list from ICE. Sheriff gets the case and does what he's supposed to do - goes looking for her to make an arrest. The liberal drivel from Colotl's attorney and other mouthpieces is disgusting. It sure would be nice if the author could express some facts that might clarify the situation. Until then, Colotl goes to jail.

FWIW, Cobb County has it's own police force which handles day-to-day traffic and regular law-enforcement type stuff. The Sheriff runs the jails, protects the courts, transports inmates, serves warrants, bonds, evictions and, I guess, looks for bad guys and girls (most wanted lists). See more at http://www.cobbsheriff.org/

If the Sheriff was really running-down illegals all over Cobb, we probably would not have so many "Spanish-only" stores and strip malls all along Powder Springs Rd, Austell Rd and other parts of South Cobb, not to mention the problems that the "migrant population" causes in the schools in that area. If anything, it looks to me like he's not doing enough ;-) Here's hoping he'll take his cue from Sheriff Joe!
