Ashley Johnson had a good job making good money as a waitress at Brixx Pizza on Sixth Street in uptown Charlotte.
But that changed about a week ago, when a couple came in for lunch and stayed for three hours - forcing her to work an hour past her quitting time.
And they left her a tip she thought was pretty measly - $5.
Johnson did what most folks who need a good rant do nowadays. When she got home, she went on Facebook. "Thanks for eating at Brixx," she wrote, "you cheap piece of ---- camper."
And like a growing number of workers, she found out the hard way that what you say on social networks can be used against you, particularly if you're in a position of public trust or public service.
The managers at Brixx called her in a day or two later, she says. They showed her a copy of her Facebook comments and told her she was being fired for violating company policy against speaking disparagingly about customers. A Brixx official said she also violated a second policy against casting the restaurant in a negative light on social networks.
"We definitely care what people say about our customers," said Jeff Van Dyke, one of the partners who run the restaurant.
Johnson, 22, says she apologized to Brixx for using bad judgment. "It was my own fault," she said. "I did write the message. But I had no idea that something that, to me is very small, could result in my losing my job."

Those who point out when Hillary Clinton stiffs a tip will be sent to the gulag/er unemployment line...
While posting that on FB is stupid...a few comments:
1. Set settings private so only friends can see your status.
2. Don’t friend coworkers, or at least those that would rat you out.
Also, I can’t blame her for her sentiment, I deal with unappreciative rude customers all the time.

But that Punk ass POS in the LA Schhols can go off on America and tell the kids to perform a violent overthrow “because he’s on his own time.”
Shit.
I never figured why the customary gratuity went from 10% to 18%. Can’t be inflation because the price of the meal goes up.
Be that as it may I do tip about 20% if I get good service but will leave a small tip or nothing at all if I get poor service. I’ve worked in restaurants and there are far too may filthy @ssholes who can make a server’s life miserable so I do sympathize with the waitresses. But, it’s a gratuity, not an entitlement.
I think this sucks. I used to wait tables. And those who tie a wait staffs table for 3 hours and only tip 5.00 should have their ass kicked. I’m just sayin’..
Never complain, never explain.
1. Facebook isn't a diary.
2. Never mention your place of employment UNLESS you use Facebook as a sales tool.
Also, I cant blame her for her sentiment, I deal with unappreciative rude customers all the time.

OK, but look. This is a pizza joint, right? Who cares how long they stayed. Do you think two people ran up a bill over $30.00? At lunch?
Assume lunch was $20.00 or $25.00. Five bucks is a damn good tip.
I often go out to eat with my kids. The amount of my tip depends on how big a mess we leave behind.
I’m with Ashley. I don’t blame her for being ticked. A lecture and warning would have been smarter. All this did was give some extra bad publicity to Brixx
While this waitress is stupid for posting this I feel her frustration. My wife is a waitress. People don’t realize, waitresses get paid less than minimum wage. They’re working for tips. So if you are going to sit at a waitresses table for an hour, be considerate and give her a decent tip or get up and go to the local starbucks to chat. It’s just common decency.
Were you the customer?
Please let me pre-aplogize to the idiots for this statement:
Anyone who posts their RL information on the Internet in any way, shape or form is an idiot.
See post 13. She was over-tipped.
IMHO.
Especially if - as her Facebook page implies - she is a snotty whiny brat.
