Mitt Romney Not Eligible?
May 19, 2010 | Chatter

Here is a real mess, that is much more confusing than Obama's ineligiblity.

It has occurred to me that Mitt Romney, may not be a natural born citizen, and may not even be a US citizen. I'll give the facts as I know them, and let you all research the Immigration Laws.

When Congress started cracking down on polygamy, Miles Park Romney (Mitt Romney's great-grandfather) and many other families, left the United States, 5 March 1885, moved to Mexico and began their own settlement.

Mitt Romney's paternal grandfather Gaskell Romney (1871–1955), fathered George Wilcken Romney, however, remained in Mexico until events during the Mexican Revolution forced his family to move back to the United States, when his son was still young. The year they moved back is unknown, but, the revolution started in 1910.

Mitt Romney's father, George Wilcken Romney (July 8, 1907 – July 26, 1995) was born in Colonia Dublán, Galeana, in the Mexican state of Chihuahua – one of the Mormon colonies in Mexico – on July 8, 1907.

Here is the core issue. Under today's immigration law, Gaskell Romney would be considered a US citizen, because both of his parents were citizens, both of whom, did live for a while in the United States, however, his son, George Wilcken Romney was born in Mexico, to US citizen parents who had not yet spent one day on US soil. So exactly what was George Wilcken Romney true citizenship status? I believe that he would have been required to apply for naturalization, but he did not. How can Mitt Romney be considered a natural born citizen, when his father was possibly an illegal alien , and not a US citizen?

All I remember is "A heart of gold, a jaw of steel, and a brain of mush."

I remember those, plus "Romney the Rambler", in much the same vein as "Hubert ("Dump the Hump") Humphry, whose mouth is full of tongue".

“Oh Crap...
Birtherism is mutating... “

I don’t think it’s mutating at all. I found this genealogical Romney factoid long ago and have always thought that the BO and handlers copied Mitt’s daddy. That’s why we are in this fix today.

Mitt is an anchor baby?

I really don’t know. This would all depend on what immigration laws were in effect in 1907. According to today’s laws, his father would not have been considered a US citizen.

the brainwashing comment was an excuse to keep Junior out of Vietnam...

With Daddys help, Mitt Romney managed to dodge the draft two times and sit out the war in a mansion in Paris while better men were being killed and wounded in Nam...

If you want to know what Congress was saying about George Romney, here is the June 1967 Congressional record.

I wonder if it could be referring to the liberal, relativists, who have seen the light and are on the way to shed their beastliness for conversion?????

Good article. However, it states that Mitt’s dad was a dual citizen. I don’t know what that means for Mitt.

The whole thing is an allusion to Revelation, it's full of references. "Spirit of the world," 2,000 years (of Christianity ... seems reasonably clear to me.

Turning and turning in the widening gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart; the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the Second Coming is at hand.
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight: somewhere in sands of the desert
A shape with lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Reel shadows of the indignant desert birds.
The darkness drops again; but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?

All that means anything to the son of George Romney as far as eligibility is that George Romney was a citizen as was his wife, at the time of their son’s birth in the United States.

Check. Thanks.

Interesting factoid tho, that George Romney was ineligible for the Office of the President, according to that cited Congressional record.

The beauty of those men who actually argued and thought through the issues of that day in Congress is astounding — in contrast.

Thank you sir. It’s good to see, there are still a few people that can actually deal with the facts.

Posts like this are killing FreeRepublic. This is the 2nd kooky conspiracy post I’ve seen this evening. I suppose if one points out that this is crackpot stuff on par with 9-11 troofer toadies, they are automatically a Romneybot, right? Whatever. I don’t care for Romney at all, can find at least a dozen reasons not to vote for him and would never do it, but I refuse to let go of reason and become a laughingstock. I often wonder if the the originators of these types of posts aren’t just lefty trolls hijacking the site. If so, I’ll bet they think they are being real clever, because at the least, they are wasting everyone’s time here and, at the most, they are tainting this place to such a degree that it’s affected the credibility and integrity of this once-great site.
