Senator Scott Brown switched a key vote from yesterday and joined 57 Democrats and two Republicans this afternoon in advancing a massive financial regulation overhaul.
The Massachusetts Republican said that over the last 24 hours he received assurances from the chief negotiators in the House and Senate, Senator Christopher J. Dodd, and Representative Barney Frank -- that changes he was seeking would be addressed. Those assurances came during a phone call with Frank last night, while the Newton Democrat was working out in the House members gym. Brown was further convinced during a 40-mile bike ride he went on this morning with Senator John Kerry.
We recognize that theres going to be some fixes here, more than likely, and the conference committee, Brown said after voting. Im satisfied that all of our efforts Senator Kerry and my efforts will benefit and protect jobs in Massachusetts.
I spoke at length over a 40 mile bike-ride with Senator Kerry about it, Brown added. Hes a very good athlete.

I’ve been getting campaign donation emails from him constantly lately. What a disapointment he is...
Like Reagan / Bush.
No more Faustian deals, please.
Why not just take a stand and explain why this is BAD for Massachusetts?
Can I slap him with a large fish?
“We recognize that theres going to be some fixes here”
Ah, yes.
I see the “fix” is in.
I was wondering what Scott Kerry-lite was up to these days...polishing up on his RINO skills, I see.
Gee, you can’t tell that he’s new to DC now can you? What a moron.
“Those assurances came during a phone call with Frank last night, while the Newton Democrat was working out in the House members gym.”
I would have guessed that Bawney Fwank frequents the YMCA, like the rest of his kind.
> over the last 24 hours he received assurances
From Bawney Fwank and his looney leftist mob?
And their “assurances” are believable because ...
The only good thing that came out of Brown’s election was the black eye it gave the DemonRATs.
Since then he’s been slapping their backs, rather than kickng them in the pants.
A lot of people on here were giddy about Scott Brown, saying how great it would be if he ran for President right after his election. It’s time that many of you took off your Republican colored glasses and realize that most of the Republicans in Congress aren’t much different than the Democrats, especially in the Senate. Once a RINO, always a RINO. There are very few good people in our government. Dark days are ahead. USA=Greece in 3 years.
Hard to watch birth of a RINO.
A man who won’t defend our unalienable right to Life won’t defend our unalienable right to Liberty either.
Scott Brown is a Liberty-hating liberal scumbag!
“he received assurances from the chief negotiators in the House and Senate, Senator Christopher J. Dodd, and Representative Barney Frank — that changes he was seeking would be addressed.”
He’s a slow learner...
he switched his vote, eh? When the hell is a vote final?
We got rid of Arlen Specter this week. Someone had to pick up the mantle.
"We've decided not to make any changes, therefore they are 'addressed'. Thanks for helping us stick it to them again."
You, sir, are out of your mind.
FCOL!
Did any of you fools seriously expect Scott Brown to be a conservative. He comes from Mass for G*D’s sake! Get a grip. There are NO conservatives left in the ENTIRE N/E “United” States.
Most Politicians are made of sh!T! Count yourself amongst them Scott Brown.
I guess it’s time to change my tagline. If he was worried about this vote helping his reelection in ‘12 he has chosen poorly.
I like Scott Brown as a personality and a candidate. He is not Chris Christie, if that is what you were hoping for.
Would not be surprised if he becomes a VP sometime . .
Haley Barbour/Scott Brown for example.
Or even Michelle Bachmann/Scott Brown.
Why the heck would a Conservative tap a Liberal on all but one issue as a running mate?
Wher is a good facepalm photo when you need one?
AlanD - Since Feb 13, 2010
Your reply #1 - You’ve got to be kidding me.
What in the world does that have to do with the merits (or lack thereof) of the legislation?
Could you see Winston Churchill commenting on the athletic prowess of one of his political foes?
Can't we find some serious people for these serious times?
Never, never, ever trust a RINO.
Still, with the enemedia running 24/7 propoganda about Republicans refusing to regulate Wall Street and the GOP being too stupid to run ads on who Wall Steet donates to and who got us in this mess, I can see where Scottie feels he's between a rock and a hard place.
That's why I cheer the probable election of a guy like Rand Paul. He and his Dad may be isolationist dopes when it comes to foreign policy, but they at least have the guts to take on Wall Street and the international banksters.
From my reading of the mood, this country is fed-up with the no-win war in Afghanistan and will need another 9-11 type event to wake them from their slumber, so it is better to at least channel that isolationist sentiment into getting our borders secured and stop with the bankster bail-outs for now!
They are using this tactic over and over again to wear us down. Making us think these communists bills are going to die then allowing a floor vote and ramming it through.
They all want us to give up and let them take over so they will no longer have to campaign and then can just be our masters.
This crap has to end.
No grass under our feet. How do we oust him and when. These politicians have to know we will not tolerate RHINOS. If they sneak in, we have to weed them out.
Why am I not surprised? Another RINO who will vote with the dems.
Wonder what they bribed he and his wife with?
One thing you can say about Scott Brown. He really likes making deals with the devil. We do need financial reform. We need to go back to Glass-Steagall. There is a lot of garbage in this bill. Including crimes against the American people that are not related to reforming the markets, but are intended to spy on, intimidate, and control Americans.
Almost as inane as the chatter about Lieberman as a running mate for McCain in '08.
No, that would be insane - 2 liberals on the Republican ticket.
Someday; this guy and other RINOS will have to pay the piper.
This is why it's imperative to wait for any newly elected politician to get a track record before suggesting he or she be advanced to a higher position. I thought Newt might make a good pesidential candidate but wasn't going seriously to support him until he made a track record as House Speaker. Now that he's made that track record, thre's no way I'd support him for President.
Brown believed promises made by Dodd and Frank?
Ruh-roh.
As-s-s-s
I want the hundreds of dollars back that I sent to his campaign.
Most didn’t want him on the national ticket anyway.
Those assurances came during a phone call with Frank last night, while the Newton Democrat was working out in the House members gym.
I would have guessed that Bawney Fwank frequents the YMCA, like the rest of his kind.

You gotta remember - this is the same gym where Rahm Emmanuel and Eric Massa walk around naked.
There seem to be some that want to try the two Liberal route: Romney/Brown or similar pairings.
Birth? Some here knew what he was in the womb.
He is EXACTLY like Arlen specter - brings home the bacon to a chosen few companies in his state and screws the rest of us who have to pay the bill for that pork. He wanted assurances that the insurance companies in his state were not hurt - how nice of him - so did he complain about the slush fund to bail out the gamblers every time their derivatives crash? after they’ve gotten their bonus/commission checks? Arghhhhh
He's pro abortion, any conservative that would pick him would be commiting political suicide.
well it will take one time for him to see they won’t keep their word while still in the majority and then we’ll see what he does
Another Bart Stupak moment...
Or McDonalds Playland.
Jeez guys, give him a break! He stopped the take over of the Health Care industry single-handily. Oh wait... never-mind.
