Rand Paul, riding the momentum of his big Republican Primary win on Tuesday, now posts a 25-point lead over Democrat Jack Conway in Kentuckys U.S. Senate race, but theres a lot of campaigning to go.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Voters in Kentucky, taken Wednesday night, shows Paul earning 59% of the vote, while Conway picks up 34% support. Four percent (4%) percent prefer some other candidate, and three percent (3%) are undecided.
Paul consistently led Conway prior to winning the Republican primary, but had never earned more than 50% support. Conway has been stuck in the 30s since the first of the year. Last month, Paul posted a 47% to 38% lead over the Democrat.

Rand Paul has great potential if he can avoid gaffes. He already stumbled on the Rachel Maddow show.
Yeah, especially for Conway . . .
Not sure he made a gaffe, but question why he would be on national media. He should do what Jesse Helms did and simply ignore national media—his constituents are in Kentucky.. talk to local media only.
That’s a good point, the MSM plays gotcha with conservatives.
Well said
I watched the Maddow interview. Curious episode. She apparently ran way over the norm and kept him longer on the screen than any guest in the past month (note, I watch about fifteen minutes a week of her show, so I can say that).
Then her twisted neck was readily apparent for the entire interview...like some cat looking at you...but continuously. She kept acting like she didn’t understand anything he said and gave you a continual impression that she couldn’t grasp what he was saying.
Then her entire question kept going back to compare Latinos to the Black situation in the 1960s. Paul never grasped this...and should have put a stop to it in thirty seconds flat...but he didn’t. He kept getting deeper and deeper into a ‘what-if’ scenario and comparing oranges with apples situation.
In the end...I thought Maddow probably embarrassed at least a quarter of the regular Maddow viewers watching...with a college freshman-like game she played.
Paul is not competent enough to grasp these games...so don’t be giving him extra points for debate ability or grasping quickly. As lousy as Maddow was...she should have been easily torn apart...and she wasn’t.
It’s a gaffe to say anything that the media can interpret as being opposed to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
