Constitution is this year’s big best-seller

Demand for copies of the U.S. Constitution is skyrocketing.

The increased interest comes amid the rise of the Tea Party movement and as both parties cite the Constitution to advance their agendas.

The pocket edition of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence ranked 10th on the Government Printing Office’s (GPO) best-seller list in March.

Since September 2009, the GPO has sold more than 8,700 copies of the pocket Constitution to the public, according to GPO spokesman Gary Somerset. That is a higher sell rate than in recent years.

Those sales are in addition to the thousands of copies given to members of Congress each year. Congress authorized a resolution in 2009 to print 441,000 copies for the use of the House (1,000 for each member) and 100,000 copies for the Senate (1,000 for each senator).

The Heritage Foundation and the Cato Institute, which keep statistics on the Constitution, also say that requests for the historical document are on the rise.

GPO sells copies for $2.75, but constituents can request a free one from their lawmaker.

Congressional offices are burning through theirs stacks of pocket Constitutions.

In a recent “Dear Colleague” letter titled “Order More Pocket Constitutions!” House Administration Committee Chairman Robert Brady (D-Pa.) advised members to take advantage of a special rate.

I wonder when they are going to make the Constitution a classified document? After all, isn't there "too much information out there?"

Some of the best selling books at Amazon are about our Founders. Are Americans waking up? I sure hope so.

the far left kooks will hate kids knowing our real history and how we was founded , one only has to look at CA and those mentally challenged far left kooks in TX to see them trying to destroy real history

both parties cite the Constitution to advance their agendas.

As far as I can tell, the Democrats' version of the Constitution is a lot shorter -- basically consisting only of the Commerce Clause, and Thomas Jefferson's 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptist Association (citing the "wall of separation between church and state").

Good for you.

But since when does the constitution matter to a libtard? (For that matter, when does a statute matter...if it's inconvenient?)

I have a copy of the Missouri State Constitution which also contains the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. This one book is dwarfed by both my Blacks Law Dictionary and book of Uniform Commercial Code Business Law.

HMMMM!?!

If Hollywood wasn’t too busy making movies running our country and people down, wouldn’t it be nice to see a movie come out honoring our founders, their sacrifices, our Constitution, and helping our children be once more proud and patriotic.

Another excellent resource to have on hand is the Patriot Post Essential Liberty Guide:

"The Essential Liberty Pocket Reference Guide contains the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Additionally, an inspiring historical introduction by the Patriot Post's executive editor Mark Alexander, the Oath of Allegiance to the Constitution, the Declaration of the Cause and Necessity of Taking Up Arms, the Virginia Declaration of Rights, The Articles of Confederation, various state plans from the Philadelphia Constitutional Convention, and a wide selection of quotations from the Founding Fathers are all included in this excellent pocket reference..."

1. Holy Bible(KJV)

Why the King James Version?

The most accurate word-for-word translation of the Holy Bible. I like the Geneva Bible 1599 too but you had better have a BIG unabridged Dictionary with you to undersrand it.

But wouldn’t it be prudent to have a Bible that you (plural) can understand? Most 20 something kids start reading all the “thee’s and thou’s” and their eyes glaze over and they walk away.
