Top Official Says Feds May Not Process Illegals Referred From Arizona

A top Department of Homeland Security official reportedly said his agency will not necessarily process illegal immigrants referred to them by Arizona authorities.

John Morton, assistant secretary of homeland security for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, made the comment during a meeting on Wednesday with the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune, the newspaper reports. "I don't think the Arizona law, or laws like it, are the solution," Morton told the newspaper. The best way to reduce illegal immigration is through a comprehensive federal approach, he said, and not a patchwork of state laws. The law, which criminalizes being in the state illegally and requires authorities to check suspects for immigration status, is not "good government," Morton said.

So, if the crime they got stopped for is prosecutable, maybe the AZ authorities can add to the charges because it’s aggravated or compounded by being an illegal immigrant.

The feds will process them or resign. They swore to uphold the laws of our nation under terms of employment.

Yet another Obama regime asshat who hasn't read the law.

Don't have time to read the Arizona law? Here's an audiobook, Obama!

The sheriff in a rural Missouri county detained 5 individuals who arrived in town on a bus and started asking where could they find the local Bank of America.

They had peso's they wanted to exchange for US dollars.

They had no ID, so the sheriff called ICE.

Their reply "if they haven't broken any local laws, release them we are not coming to get them".

ICE doesn't want to leave their desk job?

“Top Official Says Feds May Not Process Illegals Referred From Arizona”

Arizona should then bring a lawsuit against fedzilla to make them do their damned job. Failing that, put the illegals on prison busses bound for L.A., Chicago, D.C. and Seattle.

The Obama regime is in a full-court press attempting to get Brewer/AZ to break. Every day they’ve upped the ante with a new threat.

Hold firm, Governor. Capitulation at this point would be disastrous.

If ICE won’t process illegal aliens from Arizona, just take them to the border and push them across.

Exactly.

Selective Enforcement!!! Perhaps we the citizens should select which laws we wish to ignore. I think we should start with the IRS.

So on one hand ICE is working with some police depts, but they won’t work with AZ? Crazy.
I think AZ should be the first state to tell members of this regime that they are not welcome in the state until they enforce the border. Boycott them.

Begin impeachment proceedings.

My take, also. ICE is part of the Executive branch, which is, of course, headed by the President. If he does not do his job, it is a high misdemeanor. Get him outta there!

I’m not sure how long AZ could get away with that, but I sure like the idea.

1 in every 10 Arizona residents are illegal immigrants, roughly 684,000.

I think he's read it, yet blatantly refuses to enforce the portion that he's legally required to.
