Barbara Bush will speak out about the extreme disparity in health care between the world's rich and poor at a National Press Club luncheon on Wednesday, May 26 and describe what the non-profit she heads is doing to improve public health in underserved communities here and abroad.
Bush, 28, is the president of the Global Health Corps (www.ghcorps.org) , a group she helped found two years ago with input from her sister Jenna. The organization places recent college graduates in yearlong fellowships aimed at improving health care access. The first 22 fellows were assigned to 12 project sites in East Africa and the United States and this year the goal is to place 36 fellows. Global Health Corps partners include the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative, Dr. Paul Farmer's Partners in Health, Covenant House International and the Elizabeth Glazer Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
A 2004 graduate of Yale, Bush interned for a children's hospital in Capetown, South Africa, and for UNICEF in Botswana and has traveled extensively in Africa with the UN World Food Program. "It was frustrating that most kids were suffering from totally preventable diseases, like malaria and diarrhea," she has said of her time in Africa. "It made me think â how can we solve these issues if the same people keep asking the same questions?"

I’d like to culture something with her sometime.
What happened to the old fashioned “help the poor?” Today it’s all “decrying the disparity.” Even among people who should know better. Some of the poor can’t help it, but others got there through their own foolishness or stupidity.
More NWO propaganda.
Global equity ?? The Bush’s are such squishes.
“It made me think how can we solve these issues if the same people keep asking the same questions?”
What the heck does that mean? I know let’s wave our magic government wand and make all the bad boo-boos go away!
I’m telling you, my personal conspiracy theory about the Bush family being Democrat moles isn’t looking too far-fetched these days.
I remember a time on Free Republic when the ‘bushbots’ were numerous. Aren’t too many defending the Bush family anymore.
If she wants to head a non-profit private org, we can support that. If she has bought into the whole social justice concept, well- the society has trained people in her age group well. She’s like a lot of other 20 somethings - scarily so.
“Miss me yet?”
Well these are the Bush younguns. Seems like only yesterday they were getting in trouble using fake ID cards to get liquor served to them. Good ole girls?
Bush realists.
Bush was not Satan. Much about him made me thankful he was my President. Other things, such as his views on immigration, and his globalism, I could not support.
But, Bush’s globalism and Barack’s are two different things. Bush saw a one world order with America at the helm. Barack sees it with America in ashes.
Compared to Obama? Yes.
Everyone of the Bushes should become democrats. They sure act like them.
Bush 1 & 2 have set back conservatives decades. I’ll always have a very low opinion of each.
The bush women should just keep their mouths shut. The bushes ahve already done enough damage to this nation.
Hey, I like the Bushes... They would have made fine Democrats...
A 'loyal' opposition party that although you wouldn't like their socialist tendencies - at least you wouldn't be too worried about their national loyalties.
Unfortunately the Democrats of today are the Communists of yesteryear - and you know that their loyalties belong to anything anti-American; and that they are dedicated to the destruction of our Constitutional Republic.
The Bushes are fine folk -- they just shouldn't pretend that they are Conservatives.
It was rather easy to promote Bush, when his only serious primary opponent was McCain, and his general opponents were Algore and Lurch.
Amen to that.
Talk to the "environmentalists" sweetie.....they banned DDT (KILLS mosquitos that cause malaria)....and talk to the "socialists" ....KILLS capitalism that creates thriving cities and countries where water systems are built. Get back to me after you do that....'kay?
Barbara, I’m pretty sure Bono is on top of this.
Bless her heart! /s
