A 35-year-old man was shot dead while standing outside a vehicle near Washington Park, police said. The shooting happened about 9:10 p.m. in the 5800 block of South Russell Drive.
About an hour later, a 22-year-old man was shot in his leg in the 8000 block of South Saginaw Avenue. The victim heard shots and felt a pain in his leg, police said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition.

In reality, hot weather sends the kids out onto the streets. Tempers flare, bang!

In the heat of a summer night
In the land of the dollar bill
When the town of Chicago died
And they talk about it still...
Did Daley stick a rifle up someone’s butt and show them how effective it is?
Thanks. I’d successfully “lost” that song since 1974.
Now it’s back.
Radio news breaks this AM are touting that “crime is down for the 3rd yr in a row”.
I don’t buy that crime is down.
I think there is some very clever kinds of categories being applied to all types of crimes.
They mentions ‘property crimes’ are down. Everyone I know says that empty homes are being broken into & cleaned out on a regular basis. They are all trying to keep a watchful eye for such activity.
Where I live, sheriff won’t even send a deputy of we see something suspicious. Says there are “too many empty homes” & they “don’t have the resources” to deal with it all. Friend saw a strange truck at an ampty house across from his, called sheriff, and it was a very distinctive truck. They would not come out. He has been even more watchful ever since. We all are keeping any weapon we have- even baseball bats close to the front door, etc.
ANOTHER Chicago thug out of control- and feeling that he is more important than anyone else...
NObama revisited.
The same band (Paper Lace) that gave the world “Billy Don’t Be a Hero,” though more so popularized by a different band (Bo Donaldson...).
Pop artists were pretty much interchangeable in those days. For example, Cher turned down "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" which ended up being a number one hit for Vicki Lawrence. Probably would have been a number one song for anybody back in those days.
It’s like in Filthadelphia-the City of Brotherly Lead-when there’s a warm summer weekend night, the news-tards solemnly pontificate on the hot night causing umpteen shooting deaths like it’s a natural phenomenon...
