UPDATE: See video clip after the break of an earlier interview in which Scarborough unequivocally puts it to Sestak that he had been offered the Secretary of the Navy position, and Sestak seems to confirm it. so much so that after playing the clip, today's guest Jeffrey Sachs, an ardent Obama fan, has to laughingly admit that, yes, Sestak had been offered the Navy job.

Does Chuck Todd understand the difference between offering, in return for a candidate's agreement to drop out of a race, a big federal job with its salary and perks, versus offering to support someone's possible future political campaign? Apparently not. For the NBC Political Director and chief White House correspondent this morning equated the Obama admin's apparent offer of a top job to Joe Sestak with Dick Cheney's reported offer to support Tim Pawlenty in a subsequent gubernatorial run if he would get out of a Senate primary against Norm Coleman. I have voted for Bush 4 times but I was plenty angry with him plenty of times, for things now that are so minor compared to 0dumbo.
In all that anger I never worried he was taking America down a path that would damage us and reduce us.
Can 0dumbo’s supporters not see what he is doing? Or are there that many people that want us to slide and want us to become a nanny state?

It’s understandable, given their love of rigging elections, that Democrats don’t understand the difference between elective and appointive office.
The press is showing a LITTLE interest in this, but if similar allegations had been made against the Bush admin, the press would be in full feeding-frenzy mode by now, and the scandal would have been given a name - “Jobgate” or “Promisegate” or some such thing.
No it is not... one is actually... you know... codified into Federal law and the other is called an endorsement... and that this is just another satanic verse from the dims.

If Todd’s theory is correct, then Blago ought to walk, on grounds that his seeking a job in exchange for naming a particular person to fill Obama’s Senate seat is as innocent as Dick Cheney’s offering to campaign for Pawlenty.
Sestak case deepens--did White House commit a felony by offering a job to Sestak?

Well the ramifications are potentially enormous. I mean to offer someone something of value in order to affect their official behavior as a member of Congress is a felony. We call it a bribe. To offer someone something of value to affect the outcome of an election is a felony. Each of those carries five years with them. The government has an affirmative obligation to investigate this.And Congressman Sestak who is a decent guy, we've all interviewed him. He sent you handwritten thank you notes after he was on your show, whether he agrees with you or not. Congressman Sestak has an obligation to tell the truth. Who offered him a job? What was the quid pro quo and what was the job? If he doesn't say that voluntarily a federal prosecutor should bring him before a grand jury and the grand jurors will inquire of his knowledge as we like to say.
That looks pretty cut and dried to me.
I'm also wondering if Sestak reported the attempted bribe to the authorities, and if not, could he be in any legal jeopardy for failing to do so?
