South Korean and U.S. forces have raised by one notch the level of military alert against possible aggression from North Korea.

A high-ranking South Korean government source on Wednesday said the threat of North Korean provocation has risen as sanctions against North Korea take effect following the sinking of the Navy corvette Cheonan.

The source added the two militaries have raised the "Watchcon" (watch condition) level from three to two, which denotes "vital indications" of a security threat.

Watchcon is a five-stage surveillance system watching over North Korean military movements. The higher the level, the more spy satellites, reconnaissance planes and intelligence analysts are deployed on more frequent monitoring missions.

If the North Koreans are massing troops at the DMZ then there is trouble ahead. Massing troops at the border is a prelude to invasion.

Amazing that Seoul and the other Asian markets can be up with a backdrop of such news.

Somebody’s gonna light this candle...if NK is going down the crapper, I wouldn’t be surprised if that kook didn’t try to take everyone with him...

Well here is my worry--It wouldn't take much for NK to launch a missile to a point over the northern hemisphere and effect an EMP burst over the U.S. Here, it would be game over, 1873 here we come!

I do believe North Korea has that technology today and wouldn't put it past him. Hell, China is probably in kahoots cause they would re-take Tawain while we are stumbling around in the dark. Jeez...

I know NK fired a test missile a bit past Hawaii...but do they have range on the west coast?

Is it for sure EMPs do what they say? Is it just a theory or actually been authenticated? I seriously don’t know—but I’ve heard of EMPs all my adult life.

When we were selling all are debt to China, I said if I were Taiwan, I’d but $$$$ing bricks! China has us over a barrel.

Man, these are some wild times...good thing I know how to ride a horse.

This was kind of expected and was rumored all over (towns).

Obama will eventually cave and send an emissary all the way to Pyongyang, on bended knee, to "cool things down" and off the spoiled brat some "carrots", since it is widely known they have no "stick".

DPRK will threat to the point of Obongo getting the Hershey Squirts. This is just beginning.

Two hot wars and the potential for a third and Congress is busy pushing DADT down our warriors throats without even bothering to study the matter or listen to what they have to say.

Take the time to make the call to your Senators today.

Maybe Ronery went to China to tell them it’s over and he’s gonna hit SK. Maybe the Chinese said ok but warned the SK and the US they could do nothing..

It looks like they have the range to hit anything west of a line that runs from Minneapolis to Phoenix. These long-range missiles, fortunately, have had a very high failure rate (100%). Unfortunately, their medium-range missiles would be able to hit Alaska and Hawaii without too much trouble and are much more reliable.

There are strong reports that the North Koreans have been modifying several of their old Romeo-class submarines to carry the Musudan IRBM, a sub-launched ballistic missile based off the Soviet R-27 which was carried on Golf and Yankee-class ballistic missile submarines. If so, then the North Koreans potentially have the ability to hit targets anywhere in the Continental US. If they sortie all 22 of their subs, then we would have a hard time achieving the 100% kill rate needed in order to ensure that the one or two modified missile carriers don't leak through.

A higher kill rate than that is the scores of Scuds and Nodongs (intermediates) directly aimed right now at thousands of US troops and American civilians here in Japan, from Misawa (AB) in the north to Sasebo (Naval Base) in the south and further south to Okinawa. The names of young Americans, dead, would pour in one after another after another to every little town and village across the USA from whence they hail. It would make September 11, 2001 look like a picnic in the country. I hope Americans never forget all these other Americans that can indeed be hit with some level of accuracy, even if Norkies cannot hit continental USA that easily.

Don't forget that Seoul, the world's second largest metropolitan area, home to half the population of South Korea, is less than thirty miles from the DMZ, placing it within reach of North Korean artillery, rockets, and missiles.

Additionally, there are over 28,000 US military personnel stationed in South Korea. If the stinky stuff ever hits the rotary impeller, it would be a safe bet that the bases where these Americans are stationed would be high on the North Koreans' target list.

Kim Jong-il looks very ill as of late. He may be looking for that last huraah.

If I figure that he doesn't have any thing to loose he is liable make a big move.

I was afraid you’d say that...you think our main stream Blight House propaganda media will even give us a warning or will they be too busy reporting the latest American Idol winner?
