Radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh is set to marry his longtime girlfriend, Kathryn Rogers, next week in an intimate ceremony at his beachfront home in Palm Beach, Fla.

Limbaugh, 59, met 33-year-old Rogers, a direct descendant of Founding Father John Adams, in 2004 when she ran a golf tournament/charity fundraiser and Limbaugh was a celebrity guest, Jose Lambiet reports in his column in the Palm Beach Post.

At the time, Limbaugh was getting divorced from third wife Marta. That split was finalized later that year, and Limbaugh and Rogers were an item by the summer of 2007.

Long time girl friend? It couldn't have been that long, she's still wearing diapers.

I am willing to bet that Rush was pretty much the person he has always been through each one, and his wife was the one who changed.

*************

Maybe during Rush’s first two marriages that is how it was. During his last one, he became a drug addict. Have you ever been around a drug addict? They do not remain “pretty much the person they have always been”.

Rush became a drug addict to be able to function with the back pain. Kinda different in my book from someone who snorts coke for fun.

Yep. Better than the lottery. Not as good as blackjack.

Yes. I spent several years trying to help talk a heroin addict down off a ledge.

I don’t know about Rush Limbaugh’s personal life behind doors. He could be abusive for all I know.

I just don’t think the basic person changes, although that leaves scars.

But that really isn’t the point on this thread, is it?

A lot of people seem to want him to fail (ironic that) because she is younger than him and it is multiple marriages for him.

I don’t get that. Rush Limbaugh does a lot for the conservative movement, in my opinion. We should be pulling for him to succeed, not only for our political sake of having someone who tells it as many of us see it, but for his own personal sake.

Just my opinion.

Also, my dad was an alcoholic for at least fifty years. But even though his personality changed when he kicked it late in life, he was the same person. Exactly.

Now, he was never bad evil or abusive when he drank. He just drank himself into a stupor and never said a word. But he was the same man.

True love.....

Anna Nicole Smith married oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall, who died the following year. She was 26, and he was 89.

A U.S. bankruptcy judge initially awarded Anna Nicole Smith $474 million, but the amount was later reduced to about $90 million. A federal appeals court eventually dismissed the entire award.

I haven't seen anyone wanting him to fail. Where did you get that idea?

My grandfather was 20 years older than my grandmother, and they remained married until he died at age 86, she being 66 at the time, and having been married about 45 years at that time.

Two sons, to this couple.

I have several friends where fairly big differences take place regarding age, and the marriages last.

Rush killed that argument with wife #1! Then buried it with wife #2. Then entombed it with wife #3! Rush is just the opposite of your grandfather and grandmother.

No doubt it happened accidentally and not because of recreational use. It happens to a lot of people that way. Still, an addict, by definition, does not behave the same way as a non-addict. It changes a person, regardless of how the addiction came about.

I think most here are pulling for him to succeed. I do hope this marriage lasts. I even hope they have kids. But you can't ignore history.

No. I was just answering your belief that he did not change during his marriages. But most likely, as he fell deeper into his addiction, he lied about his level of dependency to his wife, lied about his rate of consumption, lied about how he was getting them, refused to seek help, etc. This is all typical of addicts and it can kill a marriage. Narcotic painkillers in particular have side effects that can interfere with marital intimacy, as well.

But as you say, who knows what really went on behind closed doors? I hope this one is successful for him. I think of writer Harlan Ellison who divorced four times and still tried again, and has now been happily married for 20-some years. It CAN happen.

Kenny Rogers has been married 5 times & has a daughter and four sons. He married Wanda Miller who is 28 years younger. Their twin boys were born in 2004 when Kenny was 65. The settlement for his 4th divorce is estimated to be $60 million...

“A Sugar Daddy Has It Made”

Not only does a sugar daddy have the benefit of a younger, more energetic spouse, he also benefits with a greater life expectancy. According to this study of two million couples, a man who marries a woman at least 9 years younger reduces his risk of death by 11%. A woman marrying an older man, however, experiences a reduced life expectancy.
