A new University of Washington poll suggests Tea Party supporters are not just angry about government spending and the new national health care law.
"The data tells us this opposition and frustration with government is going hand in hand with a frustration and opposition to racial and ethnic minorities and gays and lesbians," said Matt Barreto, a political science professor and director of UW's Washington Poll.

The fact that the flat-out lied about the Arizona law makes you think they wouldn't be above lying about their results, too.
Ping to a very silly poll. Blantant attempt to create news.
With a name like that, it sounds like a liberal PAC to me.
Looking at the survey results, I don’t see how they can say that the Tea Party’s oppose minorities. From what I can tell, they Tea Party people believe we should all have a level playing field, and no one should have a leg up. Of course, this does not agree with the intent of the report, which is to show Tea Party people as “angry, White” people.
Not the first time the University of Washington has reported the slanted results of a biased poll. So what’s up at the home of the Huskies?
The poll, released on Tuesday, surveyed 1,695 voters in May by phone and has a 2.3 percent margin of error. It found that 35 percent of the voters surveyed "strongly" or "somewhat" approve of the tea party movement, 37 percent dissaprove and 28 percent had no opinion or had not heard of the tea party.
NOT TEA PARY MEMBERS but people that held some agreement with it.
That is a HUGE difference..and so the poll is misrepresented either by the pollsters or the paper.. take your pick
Bull leavings. Anytime a source lumps race in with sexual orientation you know they are going to phrase their questions in the classic “have you stopped beating your wife yet?” vain. It is way obvious they have an agenda and the questions and interviews are set up to prove that agenda. So if you say you oppose gay marriage it means TA DA you also favor a return to slavery.
What they say and what they believe are not always the same. They fear the Tea Party. And they are not as convinced of Murray being a shoe in as they might claim.
The article states very plainly that if you are in favor of the perfectly Constitutional and very rational border security law in AZ, then you are a racist.
This proves beyond any doubt that the poll is fraudulent. Glad I could help correct a major publication. I’m certain that proving I am smarter than everyone else at that company means they will not be offering me a job.
Oh yes, we’re all just blatant racists. Ask Tom Sowell. Or Lloyd Marcus. or the NBRA. or Star Parker. or Clarence Thomas. or Larry Elder. or Allen West.
They are non-partisan because they support the DNC, The International Green Party, Communist Party USA, Workers World Party, Socialist Party, Socialist Workers Party...
They don’t pick favorites.
For example, the survey asked voters if they support the law in Arizona that "requires police to question people they suspect are illegal immigrants for proof of legal status." The poll found 88 percent of voters who "strongly approve" of the tea party also support the Arizona law, compared to 52 percent of all voters surveyed.
Also, 52 percent of strong tea party supporters agreed with the statement that "compared to the size of their group, lesbians and gays have too much political power," compared to 25 percent of all voters surveyed.
Perhaps I'm reading too much into it, but this article seems to be trying to imply that tea party participants are racists and homophobes and any other liberal fall-back name you can think of. However, if one reads the questions, they aren't really about race or homosexuality, but about political issues.
Nice to see they put sexual perverts in the same class as minorities. Certainly makes one feel good about their ethnic heritage to be compared to a deviant.
A perfect example of using a survey to get the desired results. No wonder they used the word “suggest” in the story - the reporter had to make an inference because the questions themselves show no such results.
For instance, the Arizona law question. For most of us, the question has to do with national soveriegnty and following the law. Only the reporter and a few of his delusional friends think the law has to do with race - but he’s making that link.
The gay rights question has to do with political influence - not your opinion about homosexuals themselves. Another inference that only exists in the mind of the reporter.
Otherwise, a crappy little survey acting as a disguised hit piece by a disgruntled little leftist living out his delusion under the Space Needle. I’d write more, but I might start showing contempt for the writer.
Their old tricks aren’t gonna work nor their biased BS pacify We The People this time. The Tea Party movement is growing every half hour as more and more people get more and more angry.
“A bigot is a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices. The correct use of the term requires the elements of obstinacy, irrationality, and animosity toward those of differing opinion.”
I have opinions and am prejudiced to them as they are correct....hhhmmm. Being comfortable with my beliefs I thus embrace being a bigot..which may be irrational to those with no opinion to which they are prejudiced....I have also become very intolerant as tolerance is a disease in the west...we tolerate our own people with no opinions... or understanding of the preeminence of our culture..I like it here and think I will continue to be a prejudiced bigot for the United States... perhaps the word patriot is to be used instead of bigot in MSM...try it some day...embrace irrationality!
This is just lefties preaching to their own choir. They fear the average American that is part of or supports the Tea Party and are desperately trying to characterize it as a bunch of mean, racist homo-haters, knowing that (a) its a lie and, (b) most people will shy away from a group routinely labeled ''racist' by the media.
The reality is that as the economy continues to sink, problems abound here and abroad and more and more of the American middle class is affected, even Americans formally apathetic about 'politics' are going to sit up, take notice and realize that, at the least, the Obama administration is incompetent and not the 'geniuses' they pretended to be in the '08 campaign.
At best, average Americans will realize that Obama and the Democrats are destroying the country and jeopardizing our future. The Tea Party will grow in influence and all the fake polls and liberal talking heads on TV channels few watch anymore will be able to stop the coming tsunami of Americans determined to take back their country from the radical left now in power and making a mess of things.
Ah, but you miss the “the elements of obstinacy, irrationality, and animosity toward those of differing opinion. That keeps you from being a bigot, while it pretty much guarantees those on the left fit the profile nicely.
I get that too....from the left...every day
