WASHINGTON - A top adviser to GOP star Sarah Palin was once dispatched by ex-President Richard Nixon to sweep Jews out of government service, newly released tapes show.
Nixon aide Fred Malek's role as what Democrats call a "Jew counter" for the disgraced President was already well known, and he has spent decades apologizing for activities that later cost him a Republican National Committee job in the 1980s. But he remains a prominent GOP powerbroker.
"The government is full of Jews," Nixon griped to chief aide H.R. Haldeman in a July 1971 Oval Office recording released by the University of Virginia's Miller Center on Thursday. "Most Jews are disloyal."
The Republican President, who resigned amid the Watergate scandal in 1974, said he wanted Malek in charge of cleaning Jews out of "any sensitive areas."
"We've got to get a man in charge who is not Jewish to control the Jewish - do you understand?" Nixon said.
"I sure do," Haldeman answered.
Ultimately, Malek turned over a list of more than a dozen Jews in the Bureau of Labor Statistics, files show. Most were fired.
The Democratic Party fired off at least 13 e-mails to reporters blasting Malek - who ran George H.W. Bush's 1992 campaign - and forwarded unflattering stories about the new tape. Malek was recently named a budget adviser by Virginia's Republican governor, Robert McDonnell.

I’m Jewish and follow Sarah Palin’s speeches and writings/postings pretty closely. I can’t think of anyone who is more consistently, day-in/day-out supportive of Israel than Gov. Palin. And this goes back to before her pre-VP candidate days - remember the Israeli flag in her governor’s office?
For us non-liberal/non-socialist American Jews, there is no stronger show of support for us than supporting a strong and safe Israel. It is simply a historical reality that the targeted genocide of millions of our grandparents and great-grandparents throughout Europe could only have been accomplished because there was no country that would take them in. Those of us not blinded by the left’s ideology realize that a strong Israel serves as a “safe haven” for Jews all over the world. When our brethren here and throughout the West vitiate Israel by buying into all this B.S. about “making peace” with the Arab savages who clearly want to finish what the Nazis started, they are ultimately placing themselves, their children and grandchildren in greater peril.
I argue this with my liberal Jewish relatives (I’ve abandoned liberal American Jews as “friends”) all the time. It’s certainly a subject (American Jews’ blind devotion to the left) that comes up here on FR quite frequently. They’re - intentionally or not - placing irrational liberal guilt and unfettered access to abortion above the security of their children and grandchildren. It’s incredibly frustrating!
The only “good” thing is that Hussein is so over-the-top, blatantly anti-Israel that he has at least opened they eyes of some liberal American Jews. Unfortunately, many still are drinking the kool-aid and many others appear to be calmed by his recent “charm offensive”. But, we can count on Hussein’s actions to belie his statements and hopefully more of my brethren will “see the light”. It helps also, I believe, that the entire left is pro-Muslim terrorist and they’re beginning to show their true genocidal colors. Helen Thomas spoke for many of them - they’re usually not as blatant here in the US (but in UK and Europe, the old bag’s statements wouldn’t have even raised an eyebrow!). Glen Beck was spot on: the left/socialists/communists have been responsible for the slaughter of tens of millions of Jews (communists pogroms in the USSR and Soviet bloc and, of course, the National Socialist Workers Party!).
We can only hope and pray that, much like we’re seeing in other areas, Hussein has stripped the veneer off of the “progressives” and is in the process of unmasking and revealing their truly horrific visage. The reaction to this emerging picture is driving the renaissance of true conservatism (in spite of the G.O.P., of course) and, hopefully, will begin to divorce American and Western Jews from the scourge of socialist liberalism. The first signs (green shoots, if you will!) are beginning to emerge. It is admittedly frustratingly slow, but, as Hussein and his fellow travelers continue to reveal the true anti-Semitic face of the left, this process will doubtless accelerate. And, from my perspective, it’s different than Jews supporting a Repub candidate (a la their support of Reagan in 84). Several American Jews who I’ve known who have been politically liberal in the past are questioning their past beliefs as they see the true horror of unfettered liberalism/socialism gone wild.

In all fairness to Sarah Palin, she is a staunch supporter of Israel, her religious faith compels her in that way (as it should for any true Christian), and this story is a non-story. As for the impugned anti-Semitism of Nixon, he sure came to the rescue for Israel in October ‘73 when he ordered our military forces to DEFCON 4 to DEFCON 3 to send a message to the Soviets that America was standing by Israel during the Yom Kippur War.
If it had been 0bama, we would have been at DEFCON 2, with our weapons probably pointed AT Israel.

Author doesn’t understand the 50s/60s mindset. “Jews” meant neither Semitic nor Hebrew; it meant liberal & antiChristian, not to mention Pink. Most of the Hollywood-commies (whether ultimately blacklisted or not) were Jewish —albeit in name only. And, of course most of the communications industry leaders as a whole were nominally Jewish and, by the way, anti-Nixon, dating back to his HUAC days. Kissinger, obviously, didn’t make Malek’s or Nixon’s cut; and there were many others: Len Garment, one of Nixon’s closest advisors, Ben Stein, Bill Crystal’s dad, Norm Podhurst (sp?), along with many other Conservative Jews were perfectly comfortable within the administration.
Fred Malek is a USMA & Harvard Business grad who held a number of posts in both Nixon administrations. Also brought Marriott out of third-class hotel status into the Renaissance period. By all counts a superb administrator.

I don’t think it is ridiculous. I think it is typical. There is nothing too low for the MSM to try in order to destroy Sarah.
