Israel must send Turkey a clear message that if Turkish warships are sent to accompany the next flotilla trying to break the embargo on Gaza, these will be considered acts of war by Israel , Uzi Dayan, former deputy Chief of General Staff, told Army Radio Monday morning.
"If the Turkish prime minister joins such a flotilla,” Dayan said, “we should make clear beforehand this would be an act of war, and we would not try to take over the ship he was on, but would sink it.”
“If Israel doesn't make this clear beforehand, the Turks will grow increasingly self-assured, and we may indeed find ourselves facing such a scenario, which could have been averted.”
Uzi Dayan attacked a letter sent by Navy veterans calling for a commission of inquiry as confused and irresponsible.

It is serious, but it is important to note that this is not (at least not yet) the official position of the Israeli government.
However, it is not insignificant that the former #2 IDF officer is putting this out there on the record. Wouldn’t suprise me to see more and more of the Israeli right pushing Bibi to take this position.

I think he’s probably right. The best defense is a good offense, and I think Israel has got to move out to the front and make it clear that this stuff simply cannot happen. Turkey is a state, not a bunch of loony leftist “volunteers” or even a bunch of Pali would-be jihadis, and cannot be allowed to get away with this.

Let’s see if Turkey tries to get NATO involved. If Turkey does try this game, I wonder if Israel will intercept the Turkish vessel off the Gaza coast or in international waters. The IDF air forces would blow any piece of crap Turkish boat right out of the water.

Well, theres some Perry Class ships, Knox Class, MEKO class, and a bunch of German made subs.
All in all, a decent navy. And a serious Air Force, with over 200 F-16’s and a hundred F4’s.
ISraeli airforce outclasses them though, with 68 F-15 eagles, and 270 F16s.
