Senate rejects move to block greenhouse gas regs

The Senate has rejected a bid to stop the Obama administration from imposing regulations on greenhouse gases, giving a boost to President Barack Obama as he pursues broader clean energy legislation.

Senators turned back a resolution that would have rescinded the authority of the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate greenhouse gases under the Clean Air Act.

Supporters of the measure, mostly Republicans, argued that the EPA had usurped the authority of Congress to set climate policy and that the EPA regulations would increase energy costs and kill jobs.

The Obama administration would be smart to avoid legislation and rules that have even a remote possibility of slowing the economy. Voters aren’t interested in economy-slowers now.

Amen! If the duties of their departments are not SPECIFICALLY mentioned in the US Constitution, strip all the funding and dissolve them IMMEDIATELY!

EPA, HUD, HHS are just a few that spring to mind right now.

Well, you are right...laws aren’t frequently ‘undone’ so much as made obsolete by new laws/regulations. Occasionally, regulations are lifted...but you make a valid point. The laws are so convoluted now, nobody knows what’s going on.

November...Vote ‘em all out.

The Obama administration would be smart to avoid legislation and rules that have even a remote possibility of slowing the economy.

On the contrary they are rejecting the Texas refinery permit in an ongoing stonewall (this vote was partly about that rejection). They have been fighting Texas since last year on the permit and are now threatening to revoke all of Texas regulatory authority.

The simple fact is the Obama administration doesn't care what voters think especially since they completely control the media on issues like this.

Which is why I hope Republicans do not take control in November. I just want a big enough turnover to mute any further democrat actions. Nothing can be repealed without Jr’s signature. Any downturn in the economy will be blamed on a new republican majority. The fault needs to rest on libdems for the 2012 turnover to be tsunami.

I already know how Mikulski and Cardin voted, then...AS I PREDICTED!!!

And no, I did not bother begging them to vote yes by email, either. All I’d get back is a lecture on how the EPA can regulate greenhouse gases under the CAA, or some such.

6 dems crossed the line and voted Yes..
Bayh, Landrieu, Lincoln, Nelson, Pryor, Rockefeller

So, will the big, black guy in the video beat on them after he's done with the tea party?

Your scenario is one possible way it could play out. However, I sense voter anger and disgust at this President and the Dims in Congress is fairly strong and with a landslide take over of Republicans in the Congress, I think they would be emboldened by the results to overturn some laws, and make the ‘present’ voting President pick a side. He will continue his overt radical agenda by vetoing everything in direct opposition to the obvious will of the people, and he will have no chance in 2012.

Well, there will need to be a seismic shift in the House in order to be effective. Any majority in the Senate will be slim. The skunk in the bathroom is the media - reliably liberal and anti-American. They will swarm back to Jr and fight Republicans with a vengeance and they will parrot every democrat talking point.

The media will be the workhorse of Jr's campaign from Nov 3, 2010 through Nov 6, 2012.
