Gallup: Hispanic Voters' Preferences Unchanged Post-Arizona Law (Nationwide Poll)
Gallup ^ | June 11, 2010 | Gallup

PRINCETON, NJ -- Hispanic voters nationwide haven't shifted their congressional voting preferences since the signing of Arizona's new immigration law on April 23. Their preference for the Democratic candidate over the Republican candidate, 61% to 32%, in April 23 to June 8 interviewing almost identically matches the 60% to 32% margin recorded between March 1 and April 22. White voters and black voters also haven't changed their voting intentions.

But that does not appear to be the case -- at least to this point in time.

That said, President Obama's job approval rating is down among Hispanics this year. This drop appears to have begun prior to the April 23 signing of the new Arizona law. It should be noted that the drop in Obama's approval rating between January and May of this year was primarily among Hispanics who chose to be interviewed in Spanish, while the current sample of registered-voter Hispanics includes significantly fewer of this group.

Something the idiotic GOP should keep in mind when they are warned that if they do "X", they will "lose the Hispanic vote".

The liberal rags here in Arizona are really pimping a lot of crap about an Hispanic “surge” to the ‘RAT party. I don’t believe any of it for a second. I personally know WAY TOO MANY Hispanics who agree with the rest of us Americans. If anything, some may go over to the GOP. I wouldn’t be surprised. The libbie losers need to knock of the drugs and stop pushing their lies. Saying something does not make it so. That’s just wishful thinking.

They’re thinking short term cheap labor. They don’t care what happens after they retire or die.

Not mentioned in the illegal immigrant debate are the uncollected fees for documentation and other processing.

Every legal immigrant is required to pay fees as listed on this schedule:

It is difficult to accurately measure the number of illegal immigrants in the United States, but most public agencies and private groups had settled on a figure of about 11 million.

multiply 11 million X $500 per application = uncollected revenue $5.5 billion.

Something the idiotic GOP should keep in mind when they are warned that if they do "X", they will "lose the Hispanic vote".

The moment the GOP accepts the democrat premise that views voters in ethnic blocks they are sunk.

You just cannot out-pander a democrat.

The GOP's ONLY chance is to appeal to the individual American. Its a crying shame most in the GOP have fogotten that.

Those Hispanic voters who will vote Democrat because they favor amnesty and easing of immigration laws are not voting in the best interest of the US. It's just that simple. Why is it wrong for us to defend ourselves against those who brag about changing the demographics of the country to make other groups (e.g. Caucasians) into minorities? That is, in and of itself, an aggressive and racist goal, and should be identified as such. As a society we are anything but colorblind, and the color vision we use to judge is clearly not just against ‘people of color’.

Hispanics are 15% of the population or about 50,000,000 and only 60% of those vote Dem.

Do the math.

Most of the Hispanic vote is a deadbeat vote. Promise me free stuff and I’ll vote for you. Not quite as bad as the Blacks, but getting there.

How foolish the pundits were to think the election would swing on this. everybody that wants a hand out and not a hand up votes democratic.. so the swing number on this would be insignificant

Yeah, the “lose the Hispanic vote” conservatives seem to resort more to hysteria than to hard facts I think. The important thing is not to write off Hispanics as voters or officeholders. Same goes for blacks. You just shouldn’t throw away want you stand for though to get a few more votes.

I think it will help the GOP when Hispanic Republicans win in Florida and New Mexico this November.
