Gallup: Hispanic Voters' Preferences Unchanged Post-Arizona Law (Nationwide Poll)
Gallup ^ | June 11, 2010 | Gallup

PRINCETON, NJ -- Hispanic voters nationwide haven't shifted their congressional voting preferences since the signing of Arizona's new immigration law on April 23. Their preference for the Democratic candidate over the Republican candidate, 61% to 32%, in April 23 to June 8 interviewing almost identically matches the 60% to 32% margin recorded between March 1 and April 22. White voters and black voters also haven't changed their voting intentions.

But that does not appear to be the case -- at least to this point in time.

That said, President Obama's job approval rating is down among Hispanics this year. This drop appears to have begun prior to the April 23 signing of the new Arizona law. It should be noted that the drop in Obama's approval rating between January and May of this year was primarily among Hispanics who chose to be interviewed in Spanish, while the current sample of registered-voter Hispanics includes significantly fewer of this group.

It’s mostly white libs who have have white guilt written all over their faces who are selling this crap.

The same white libs who never have 1 single non-white friend in their circles. Same thing here in L.A.: it’s a segregated city but no one will admit it.

Well it would be interesting to see how Rubio (and the New Mexico guy I’m unfamiliar with) respond if conservative immigration reform were to ever get to the point where it might pass on a federal level.

I not only have Hispanics in my circle of friends, I’ve got them (LEGAL) in my family and I know how they feel about this. They too have been robbed and burglarized by illegals in southern Arizona.

Yeah, but when push comes to shove, leftist demagoguery on immigration will drive many Hispanics who otherwise might vote GOP towards the Dems. I’ve seen polls that show most Hispanics agree that there is too much immigration into the United States, but if a immigration reduction bill were to ever get a real shot in Congress, I am sure that in the end Hispanics would overwhelmingly oppose such a bill.

I’m glad you said it first. The Arizona Repulsive is a putrid liberal rag. (Which is too bad because it was once a pretty decent paper.)

The above plus a TWENT TWO PERCENT ENTHUSIASM GAP GOPers/Democrats and the Hispanic vote will be minor except in places where they already make up a large majority.

I’ll be damned. The big “lose the hispanic vote” boogeyman doesn’t exist. What a surprise...

In New Mexico it’s actually a woman. If she wins she will be the first Latina Governor.

This poll still active!

n July, Arizona will begin enforcing a new law that requires law enforcement officers to check someone’s immigration status if they have reason to suspect that he or she is in the country illegally. Do you think this is a good idea?

As Mark Levin pointed out on his radio show last night and as anyone with common sense has known for years - but Gallup seems to miss - there is no such thing as a “Hispanic vote.” Those who are today considered Hispanic Americans trace their lineage back numerous distinct countries and cultures, e.g., Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, having only the common factor of the Spanish (or, technically, perhaps Portuguese) language. These distinct groups generally don't even associate with each other, let alone necessarily think alike on sensitive political issues.

actually i view it as a part of an overall anti-white sentiment amongst most minorities except Vietnamese and Cubans

it’s part of the America is a crime mindset
