The Times and other leftists clearly see Haley as a threat. Why shouldn't Indians vote Republicans? Most are willing to educate themselves, work for a living, and take care of their own family. My wife and I are of Indian origin, and we are.

The story about the beauty pageant is a little amusing. It does not surprise me that she has been a contestant. She is lovely.

A perfect example of why I dislike the NY Times - in the very first sentence, they find it necessary to state Haley is “neither white nor male.”

I’ve known lots of Indians - in school, business, church - and they would seem to be natural conservatives. There’s no place in the Democrat party for people who want to work hard, succeed in meaningful careers, and take care of their own families.

I think the South Carolina voters will be pleased with her leadership in office. I hope she does VERY well.

'Cause you know all us brown folk only got to stay on the Dim plantation along with the black people, that's what the liberals expect, and they dare to say conservatives are the racists LOL.

I am south asian, but not Indian, and have been conservative all my life, I thank my dad who was a great believer in Reagan and Thatcher for bringing me up right.

Things are changing up here in Canada too you find many conservatives from the south asian community, but its still an uphill battle to get people's minds out of liberal slavery, but I strongly believe the truth will always prevail and conservatism IS the truth.

I don't get why they would disqualify her, though. If they thought that Indian-looking girls wouldn't be appealing enough to win then they didn't need to do anything, and if they thought they WERE, what the heck were they doing disqualifying them? They're just inviting (justified) accusations of racism for no return.
